UPDATE November 10, 2022:
Biden just laughed in your face four times.
Democrats were not wiped from Capitol Hill on Tuesday. This was hardly a victory, though the president tried to twist it into a success story of sorts. We can’t really blame him, considering the dire predictions of a Red Wave that never came true.
Democrats are probably going to lose the House and maybe the Senate too, so there is little reason for the president to strut his party’s policy successes. There is even less reason for Biden to laugh in the faces of Americans who don’t like the direction we’re headed because of his own radical agenda.
Wednesday’s sham White House press conference replete with a prepared list of presumably safe members of the press to call on showed a president who was far from humbled by his party’s poor showing. Biden’s false, conciliatory tone gave the impression that he was seeking some sort of tepid reproachment with Republicans after nearly two years of hell. When asked what he would do differently because Americans think we are going in the wrong direction he laughed in our face not once, but four times.
First, he suggested the problem is we don’t know enough about the great things Democrats are doing:
Nothing, because they’re just finding out what we’re doing. The more they know about what we’re doing, the more support there is.614
Then he reiterated that not only will he not change, he’s going to add to his anti-Second Amendment agenda with an assault weapons ban:
So, I’m not going to change — as a matter of fact, you know there’s some things I want to change and add to.615
Just in case we still don’t fully understand:
So, I’m not going to change the direction.616
Americans can be hard-headed, so he told us a fourth time:
So, I’m not going to change anything in any fundamental way.617
In lieu of a majority Republican Congress, not changing anything means no sovereignty and an open border, rampant human trafficking, fentanyl dealing and crime, high prices especially for food, fuel, and heat, a foreign policy agenda that makes America weak and vulnerable, and all the other accomplishments of a disastrous first term that’s not even half over.
Just in case you weren’t offended by the fact that your president doesn’t care what you think, Biden added a little insult to injury. When asked about the possibility that Republicans would take a good, hard look at his family’s business dealings he responded with an arrogant:
“Lots of luck in your senior year,” as my coach used to say.618
To be on the safe side, let’s assume this means his partisan, weaponized justice system will not change direction, either. He’ll need it. If I was a betting man I’d wager his DOJ is already taking time out from Trump for a good, hard look at Ron DeSantis.
UPDATE November 11, 2022:
Biden presidency is an affront to the veterans who helped make America great.
The president used Veterans Day as an opportunity for an early campaign speech and the usual self-congratulations for his policy agenda. There is a time for this and a time to honor those who serve, but as with most things Biden his Veterans Day proclamation was mostly about himself and his accomplishments.
My dad was a World War II veteran. He has passed on and I’m thankful he’s not around to see what this president has done to the country he defended. I don’t know how many veterans would feel the same way, though I suspect there are very few from the Greatest Generation who would cheer what Biden is willfully doing to America now.
While you read this our country is being invaded by people from all over the world because Biden wishes it. Neither these illegals nor our president have the least bit of respect for the sanctity of America’s border, which means they also have no respect for America. The president would rather turn a blind eye to migrant deaths, fentanyl trafficking, human smuggling, sex slavery, and violent cartels growing stronger by the day on profits from his immigration policies than honor the sacrifices of generations by changing course because America is worth defending.
Like the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, the tens of billions poured into Ukraine because Vladimir Putin knew a Biden White House was too weak to deter him, and our refusal to confront China, this presidency is an international disgrace unworthy of the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform.
Last month the president warned of the possibility of nuclear war. This would bring the American story to an abrupt end and ridicule the sacrifices of our veterans, not that it matters when all life is extinguished. For many of us his warning felt like a not unlikely destination for an America steered by Joe Biden.
Americans bless the men and women who gave their all to defend our country and continue to do so no matter the cost. Even Joe Biden’s best efforts cannot tarnish the legacy they gift us.
November 14, 2022:
Not the Soul of America: White House eschews decency to take credit from senseless deaths.
It seems Karine Jean-Pierre missed the president’s appeal for decency last week. The press secretary acknowledged the news about three fatal shootings at the University of Virginia and then used the tragedy to take a little credit for the White House:
Too many families across America are bearing the awful burden of gun violence. Earlier this year, President Biden signed the most significant gun safety law in nearly three decades, in addition to taking other historic actions.620
She could have waited a day or two, maybe more but the White House sold Biden’s Soul of America long ago. Decency is a maxim for Biden’s political opponents, not the White House.
With decency cast aside, any tragedy that plays into the left’s narrative is fair game:
But we must do more. We need to enact an assault weapons ban to get weapons of war off America’s streets. House Democrats acted, and the Senate should follow.621
It may be fun to toss out “weapons of war” for a little dramatic impact, but this incident had nothing to do with assault weapons. Jean-Pierre probably hoped we would make the connection without looking up the facts.
The Sun Times coverage of 27 shootings and 5 deaths in Chicago this weekend didn’t mention weapons of war, either. There was nothing flashy to politicize, no sports figures or other famous people were involved. The victims were just ordinary Americans shot in a violent city that will be subject to Illinois’ no cash bail “Safe-T Act” in less than two months. I suppose this means Illinois’ violence will continue to stay off the White House radar. When big, Democrat-controlled cities and states do big, stupid things we don’t hear much about it. The White House take on decency requires Jean-Pierre to bide her time until a tragedy comes along with some legitimate political value that doesn’t make Democrats look bad.
UPDATE November 24, 2022:
Biden’s Thanksgiving wishes remind us of the single, most important thing he’s done to destroy our country and it’s no reason to be thankful.
What version of America did Joe Biden imagine he was living in when he sent his Thanksgiving wishes to America? It’s certainly not the one he’s worked hard to destroy:
If Biden is implying that the Americans he has repeatedly called MAGA Republicans and extremists, denounced as semi-fascists, and targeted as domestic terrorists are suddenly good people, it’s a little late to join hands. Nevertheless:
I encourage the people of the United States of America to join together and give thanks for the friends, neighbors, family members, and strangers who have supported each other over the past year in a reflection of goodwill and unity.624
The president’s most successful accomplishment to date is driving a stake through the heart of America. We are not a people anymore. We are a nation divided by the identity politics Biden promoted from the very first day he took over. He turned American against American with lies and false rhetoric and propaganda with a singular goal in mind: political power for radical Democrats in perpetuity.
On September 1, 2022 he told us:
Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.625
And here, in my view, is what is true: MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people.626
They promote authoritarian leaders, and they fan the flames of political violence that are a threat to our personal rights, to the pursuit of justice, to the rule of law, to the very soul of this country.627
He wants us to believe that he thinks America is the greatest country on earth while he bends our knee to China and forces taxpayers already struggling in his economy to pay for climate reparations to placate his activist base and inflate his own image.
This is a man who cares so little for our country that he doesn’t believe Americans have any greater claim to live here than the illegal foreign nationals he welcomes by the millions.
The president repeatedly objectifies conservatives and targets “good people” as enemies of the state. His Thanksgiving Proclamation is a blatant lie made worse by his total disregard for the truth about what he’s really accomplished. He has divided our country to such an extent that we may never recover. The American people were purposely driven apart to advance a radical left political agenda. In so doing, Biden destroyed the very best thing about us: we are one people united as Americans, or at least we were until January 20, 2021.
UPDATE November 25, 2022:
President’s double standard for life and death is killing us.
Above all else America values life, or at least we did until Joe Biden took over. Finally, the left has a president to replace this universally accepted moral principle with its own take on which lives matter and which can be discarded.
Black Lives Matter activists were outraged when a handful of Americans pushed back and proclaimed that all lives are important. Despite this, we’re short on proof that BLM did much of anything to advance the black community. The 2020 pre-election riots were a sad testament to the activist group’s greatest accomplishment. The same can be said of President Biden, who pursues a partisan and arguably racist approach to gun violence while he expects undeserved adulation for addressing the problem.
If we can agree that all lives matter, then there is no room for using identity politics to draw a line between acceptable and unacceptable violence. Biden gives himself generous credit for alleged efforts to stop America’s scourge of shootings and claims to have enacted “The First Meaningful Gun Violence Reduction Legislation in 30 Years.”628
The mass shooting tragedy at Colorado’s Club Q was another opportunity for the president to praise himself:
When will we decide we’ve had enough? We must address the public health epidemic of gun violence in all of its forms. Earlier this year, I signed the most significant gun safety law in nearly three decades, in addition to taking other historic actions. But we must do more. We need to enact an assault weapons ban to get weapons of war off America’s streets.629
Biden sought credit again after Tuesday’s shooting incident at a Walmart in Virginia:
This year, I signed the most significant gun reform in a generation, but that is not nearly enough. We must take greater action.630
He didn’t say what greater action entails or why what he’s done so far in conjunction with state gun laws isn’t working, but rest assured he will use it to attack the new Republican House despite the failure of the White House and Democrat Congress to stop the shootings they eagerly pin on their opponents.
Meanwhile, Americans are dying right and left from problems created by Biden and the Democrats. They play God deciding which American lives have political and especially identity politics value and which simply don’t matter because the urgency of their agenda comes first.
Shootings at an LGBTQ nightclub have tremendous value to this administration compared to the massive and largely ignored numbers of primarily black and brown shooting victims that roll in every weekend from Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago and other Democrat-owned cities. Fentanyl overdose deaths are also acceptable to this White House. Drug abuse will always be distasteful to Americans no matter how hard Democrats try to legitimize it with bright ideas like government-sponsored shooting galleries. Open borders come first because Democrat orthodoxy is more important than saving lives. Fortunately, Biden has a willing DHS Secretary who is complicit in his dangerous border fraud.
America is seething with anger both for and against these impossible to justify contradictions. The left demands absolute obedience to its ideals and values no matter how much suspension of disbelief is required and how many lives are lost in the bargain. Anything less than subservience and acceptance by the American people is a dangerous threat to democracy even though most of us recognize that authoritarian rule is the left’s end game. Republicans who don’t agree with the president are MAGA semi-fascists. Americans who oppose be kind to criminals laws are racists. Conservatives who believe in the Second Amendment are responsible for mass shootings.
Until the White House joins Democrats to agree that all lives matter and shelves Biden’s double standard for life and death, nothing is going to change. The president’s goal is not to stop mass shootings. If it was, he’d be outraged about the mass shooting incidents in big cities that Democrats take for granted and the carnage from what’s happening at the border. The goal is to use mass shootings to pass foot-in-the-door anti-Second Amendment legislation beginning with an assault weapons ban. This means that the black and brown lives lost to violence in our cities and the deaths attributable to our open border have less value. This double standard for life and death in America is destroying us because we value all lives and not just those this president can use to score a few shabby political points.
November 29, 2022:
White House “We the People” holiday theme is a sad reminder of what Biden destroyed.
The Biden administration put a lot of thought and effort into driving Americans apart, which is why it’s so perplexing that First Lady Jill Biden chose a nod to unity like “We the People” for this year’s White House holiday theme:
The soul of our nation is and always has been “We the People.” And that is — (applause) — yes. (Laughs.) And that is what has inspired this year’s White House holiday decorations.631
Soul of our nation was an unfortunate choice of words. Mrs. Biden should have thought twice before she brought back the memory of the president’s divisive, red-drenched September 1, 2022 “Soul of the Nation” address and the “semi-fascism” attack on Republicans that preceded it. White House propagandists probably thought they scored a home run with that angry rant, but another blow to national unity is not what America needed any more than we want to hear those words again to celebrate the coming holidays:
So, thank you. And, gosh, over the last two years, I’ve traveled to almost 40 states, to rural counties and to big cities. And again and again, the Americans I’ve met have shown me the soul of our nation:632
Gosh Mrs. Biden, over the last two years how hard your husband has worked to destroy that soul.
I don’t blame the First Lady for trying to reinforce the delusion that our country is one people. She was probably assigned the task of putting a cheerful face on a nation that is anything but cheery and no longer seems to have a definable soul. If we still do and that soul shows its face and even hints at unity, rest assured it will be sold to the dark forces of the left as quickly as possible.
America is many things under Joe Biden. Strong and united are not among them. Still, Mrs. Biden deserves credit for trying:
I’ve seen it everywhere I’ve gone: When our country comes together, we are stronger. What we share is so much greater than the things that pull us apart.633
She didn’t say what we share or what happens after the deed is done and we, the people are irrevocably pulled apart. We might ask if making sure that our fellow Americans are safe, warm, and fed is still a shared value, or if climate activists have convinced us that the price of their radical energy transition is freezing to death in the winter cold. When the temperature plummets and energy is too expensive for many to afford if they also want to eat thanks to her husband’s leadership, I am optimistic that Americans will draw together. We will confront the travesty of the Biden presidency and it’s disdain for the greatest thing about us by drawing together and helping those in need despite the overwhelming White House effort to force us apart.
December 5, 2022:
If Biden is so much better at foreign policy than the ‘last guy’ why was he warning about the end of the world?
During boastful remarks at a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee reception on Friday, Joe Biden compared his foreign policy acumen to President Trump’s:
Imagine four more years of the last guy coming up. I can tell you, I spent most of my career dealing with foreign policy. The rest of the world doesn’t understand.633
There are at least a few countries that understand very well what having Biden in the White House means.
North Korea understands. They just tested an ICBM that we believe is capable of reaching the U.S.
Afghanistan understands. So does every country that watched Biden’s disastrous withdrawal and the American deaths, loss of military hardware, and return to the Stone Age for the Afghan people and women, in particular, that resulted.
Russia understands. I doubt a day goes by that Putin doesn’t thank Biden for energy policies that kept Europe dependent and helped fund the early months of the Ukraine war. Our president’s warning about Armageddon only served to reinforce the unfortunate fact that American peace through strength is now a thing of the past.
Saudi Arabia understands so well that it sent our president packing when he showed up begging for oil that we already have in abundance right under our feet.
Mexico, Central America, and “the rest of the world” understand that Biden doesn’t protect our sovereign border. They know that their citizens are welcome and don’t even need to go through a customs line. All they have to do is walk in, get a court date, and ignore it.
China understands, too. What Americans need to know is how much the CCP understands about Joe Biden.
The president seems to realize that our foreign policy has consequences:
And the world is changing. All across the wor- — the world, it’s changing. And what we do matters a great deal. What we do matters a great deal.634
Too bad he doesn’t understand how to finesse the “what we do” part of the equation. If he is so much better at this than the last guy, why is the world such a mess, why are our adversaries ready to pounce and for God’s sake, why do people from all over the world think they can trespass into America without the slightest concern for consequences?
