UPATE February 27, 2022:
Great thing about America #68: Americans honor Black History, so we should condemn Biden and the Democrat Party’s pernicious narrative about Black people.
Is it Joe Biden’s age or his declining cognition that makes him think contemporary U.S. race relations are still defined by what happened 50, 70, 100 or more years ago?
There is no expiration date on America’s racial past. There should be an expiration on how long it is kept painfully alive for partisan political purposes. This doesn’t fit the Democrat Party narrative, so Biden and the Democrats use the past to make America a racist nation in the present.
Biden honors Black History Month by reminding us that little has changed over centuries of progress.
Black History Month is a perfect opportunity for the president to remind us that we haven’t progressed in two and a half centuries:
The long shadows of slavery, Jim Crow, and redlining — and the blight of systemic racism that still diminishes our Nation today — hold America back from reaching our full promise and potential.225
According to Biden’s constant reminders, Jim Crow updated to version 2.0 is alive and well today. He insists that we haven’t done enough to advance Black Americans so he joins the Democrat Party to marginalize them with the message that the Black community will fail without Democrats offering a lifeline to success and prosperity.
The White House would have us believe that an aging white elitist who uses race to advance his party’s power base has the moral authority to preach to America about a racial divide he keeps alive for his own purposes. Biden promises to make things better for Black America:
Vice President Harris and I are deeply committed to advancing equity, racial justice, and opportunity for Black Americans as we continue striving to realize America’s founding promise.226
The solution is affirmative action spread to the whole of society. Biden calls it “equity,” a progressive guiding light guaranteed to stir racial animosity with policies so extreme that the FDA justified a race-based approach to dispensing lifesaving COVID treatments. As Senator Tom Cotton (R-AL) points out:
The FDA’s race-based rationing is also blatantly illegal. Race-based rationing of care violates the Constitution and our civil rights laws, just as it runs afoul of our values as a nation.227
This is not the “founding promise” of America to which Biden pays false lip service. This is racism from the White House.
To be entirely fair, the president has considerable help from his party in his efforts to keep America’s racial past alive. Democrats dangle the white supremacist boogeyman at every opportunity. They resurrect past hurts we have moved beyond in the name of healing and coming to terms with our fundamental amorality. Yes, there is painful history to be remembered. No, these are not lessons to be constantly relearned because a racist America best suits the Democrat Party.
Few point out the hypocrisy of white Democratic politicians who set themselves morally apart from the Americans they condemn. Rep. Carolyn Bordeaux (D-GA) introduced a House resolution that brings back a 1912 mass atrocity in Forsyth County, Georgia:
Last week, Congresswoman Bourdeaux introduced a resolution condemning the atrocities in Forsyth County in 1912 when a white supremacist mob terrorized and drove out 1,100 Black Americans from their homes and land.228
This is history we should not forget, but neither should we pretend it happened yesterday and nothing has changed:
It is our responsibility to shine a light on these wrongs and reaffirm our commitment to fighting for a more just community. This resolution is one step towards justice and reconciliation for our North Georgia communities and one way we can elevate the truth of our region’s past.229
This is the difference between accepting America’s past and manipulating it for political purposes. Refusing to whitewash history is not the same thing as politicians exploiting it in the present to morally elevate themselves above the American people they accuse of a racist worldview most of us do not possess.
This is not how America celebrates Black History. This is how Joe Biden and the Democrat Party celebrate Black History. They should be ashamed.
UPDATE March 1, 2022:
Am I the only one who can’t stomach watching Biden’s State of the Union?
Not once in the past twenty years have I missed a State of the Union. It didn’t matter whether the president was a Republican or a Democrat. I’ve always viewed the SOTU as an event no American should skip, though it’s become more of a pageant to take false credit and display the anger of the congressional minority than a sober assessment of the state our nation.
Speaker Pelosi drove the final nail into the State of the Union’s casket when she tore up Donald Trump’s speech during his February 2020 address. Don’t expect that kind of partisan hatred from Pelosi tonight. A Democrat is in the White House. That means America has never done better than we’re doing right now.
This why for the first time in two decades I can’t stomach watching the State of the Union tonight. Time and again President Biden has proved to Americans that we can’t believe anything he says. The president serves up made-believe stories about his past. He lies about the present, disregards the failures, and takes undeserved credit for made-up successes. We have no reason to believe him about anything.
The truth is that the Biden presidency is destroying American greatness in record time. His 2022 SOTU should be two words: I’m sorry. Listening to this terrible excuse for a president tell us how wonderful he has made our lives is not something I can bear.
Destroying the great things about America isn’t enough, so how about destroying civilization and the planet, too?
The Cuban Missile Crisis is one of my earliest memories. I was only a handful of years old, but old enough to know that something very bad was happening. Now, years later and after a promise from candidate Biden that he could deal with Vladimir Putin while he spread the Democrat Party’s lie of a Trump-Russia conspiracy we are faced with the possibility of nuclear apocalypse.
Yesterday the president told us not to worry about nuclear war with Russia. Since we can’t believe anything he says and Biden is clearly past his prime, I think it’s time to start worrying. Watching his address is not going to allay our fears of what’s coming from a man who clearly lacks the ability to lead our great nation and is fundamentally incapable of being honest with the American people.
I’ll admit there is some satisfaction to be had thinking that climate control activists will be permanently undone by their own dupe in the White House, but I’m not sure the end of life on earth is worth it.
UPDATE March 5, 2022:
Destroying America’s Greatness Is Not Enough for Biden, So Ending Civilization Is Next.
How many times have you heard the truism about inmates running the asylum? That’s what is happening in Washington.
We’re also hearing calls for a no-fly zone over Ukraine, another bit of lunacy that raises the odds this conflict will have a very bad ending for the American people while the instigators in Congress live on in the shelter of their Greenbrier nuclear bunker. (Note: after writing this update I discovered Greenbrier is a relic and a tourist attraction. Does Congress have a new nuclear hideout? Assuming they do, it’s a secret they should keep to themselves.)
Biden is forcing a very bad end to the Ukraine conflict.
Jen Psaki again insulted our intelligence on Thursday as she recited White House nonsense about why the U.S. can’t produce more oil. When asked about getting production back to pre-pandemic numbers she offered this snarky response:
Do you think the oil companies don’t have enough money to drill on the places that have been pre-approved?231
We got the same sarcasm when she was asked about the Keystone XL pipeline that Biden halted on his first day in office:
The Keystone Pipeline has never been operational. It would take years for that to have any impact.232
No one mentioned that we’ve already lost a year and two months on the pipeline because of Biden, or that the Ukraine conflict and where it spreads may very well be raging years from now.
Instead of a solution in the near term, Psaki took credit on Biden’s behalf for the “historic release” from our petroleum reserve. When the questioner pointed out that prices did not come down after that, she offered the Green New Deal:
What we can do over time and what this is a rema- — reminder of, in the President’s view, is our need to reduce our reliance on oil.
The Europeans need to do that; we need to do that.233
Biden blocks the sensible solution. The alternative is not good.
According to The Hill, there is mounting pressure on the president to move on a no-fly zone.
234 The fact that the idea is endorsed by the likes Kinzinger and Mitt Romney (R-UT)235 is more than reason enough to reject this very bad idea outright. Fortunately there are cooler, more intelligent minds in the discussion like Senator Jim Risch (R-ID):
And everybody talks about a no-fly-zone – the Ukrainians can make a no-fly-zone by us sending them enough Stinger missiles. They can make their own no-fly-zone over Ukraine.236
Are responsible lawmakers enough to stop Biden’s collision course with nuclear apocalypse?
The Biden administration is not only responsible for America’s confused, too late response to the Ukraine crisis, his willingness to put civilization at risk by ignoring a non-military solution that benefits Europe, Ukraine, and America puts his sanity and competence in question. The president’s stubborn, senile tunnel vision and enslavement to the socialist progressive left prevents us from bringing back American energy independence, the one sensible thing that will simultaneously hurt Putin and benefit the U.S.
Not only will Biden refuse to do that, his inability to lead raises the question of who will ultimately call the shots in Ukraine. If the hawks who know they have a safe haven when the missiles fly prevail, this conflict could very well end civilization as we know it.
Is placating America’s progressive left worth that risk? For Joe Biden, the answer so far is a resounding “yes.”
UPDATE March 7, 2022: Biden’s war for the Soul of America is fought with lies.
From Jim Crow 2.0 to Bloody Sunday: America will never be divided enough to satisfy this president.
The battle for the soul of America has many fronts.237
I’ve always felt that the word “soul” implies something good. As Joe Biden wages his divisive, damaging war for what he calls the Soul of America there is little left in our soul that he doesn’t find fault with. This is not because America is bad, amoral, or soulless. It’s because Biden’s agenda is so extreme that what he wants to create is unprecedented in our history. We must destroy what generations worked hard to create before he can ruin our future.
Over the weekend Biden and Kamala Harris revived the memory of 1965’s Bloody Sunday to cast more blame on America. There is apparently no limit to the amount of angst, despair, and pain the American people need to be reminded of while we suffer the damage wreaked by Biden in the present. This occasion was no exception and another great opportunity to find fault with our country.
Securing the vote is a threat to the Democrat Party machine made worse by the failure of their federal election takeover bill. On Sunday Biden argued that states and our courts are enemies of free and fair elections:
But over time, the strength of that groundbreaking law [1965 Civil Rights Act] has been weakened not by brute force, but by insidious court decisions. Today, we’re seeing states across the country propose or enact laws that make it harder to vote and have that vote counted — an onslaught of deeply dangerous efforts to suppress the vote and subvert entire elections.238
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris was busy spreading more lies about state voter laws:
Across the country, states passed anti-voting laws — laws that ban drop boxes and restrict early voting; laws that make it illegal to give food and water to voters who are standing and waiting in line; laws that, put simply, make it much more difficult for people to vote with an expectation that then we will not vote. Undemocratic laws. Un-American laws.239
We’ve heard all of this before, including the lie about bringing food and water to voters. The Heritage Foundation240 details a few of the administration’s lies about voting rights including the food and water hoax. Biden and Harris persist. Are they convinced that those listening to their propaganda are stupid?
Biden says we are one United States. Harris wants Americans to fight.
If you listened to the State of the Union you probably still have a bruise on your chin from when your jaw hit the floor during the president’s conclusion:
This is our moment to meet and overcome the challenges of our time. And we will, as one people, one America — the United States of America. 241
We won’t be if Biden has his way. If you can think of a single thing he has done to bring Americans together, I’d like to know what it is.
On Sunday Harris was inciting Americans to fight over the lies being spread by the White House and Democrats about restricting the vote:
I believe, at this moment, we are faced with a choice — a choice that we have faced many times before: Do we stand or do we fight?242
Harris opted for fighting:
We will keep fighting. We will keep organizing. We will keep shouting. We will keep making good trouble. And we will march on until victory is won.243
If Trump had said that, he’d be accused of inciting an insurrection.
Dedicated to my nephew Zachary on his birthday: a great, hard-working conservative who gives me hope that his generation might save America from the failed politics of mine.
UPDATE March 9, 2022:
Great thing about America #69: our president would never wage war on the middle class to score political points, would he?
Ukraine conflict is what White House needed to advance Biden’s War on the middle class.
Fighting a two front war is challenging. It’s something military leaders try to avoid.
The Biden administration seems to believe it is up to the task. As the president’s inflammatory statements advance the cause of war in Ukraine, his war against the middle class here at home got a tremendous boost from the surge in energy prices and the certain, damaging impact of cutting off Russian oil imports to the U.S.
This is a great opportunity for progressive climate extremists to say “I told you so.” This, of course, is precisely what Biden intends to deliver.
The strategy for Biden’s War at home is simple. First, blame Putin. That’s a no brainer. Everything bad that happens in America because of the president’s disastrous domestic policy agenda from this point forward will be Putin’s fault. While there will be truth to that as the foreign war drags on, the domestic economy was in a shambles long before this power-mad dictator invaded Ukraine. Biden wears the blame for that.
Since gas prices are the most noticeable and arguably damaging aspect of the Biden policy agenda, what can’t be blamed on Putin is the fault of the fossil fuel industry. Jen Psaki blames thousands of unused oil leases and profit-taking by domestic energy producers that speaks to the economic politics of the left:
The phenomenon that we’re actually seeing is much more about firms wanting to return cash to investors than about a lack of opportunity.244
With oil prices rising the argument that there are oil fields ripe for exploitation that are being ignored doesn’t make a lot of sense, but it’s more palatable politically than admitting how hostile Biden & Co. are to the fossil fuel industry.
That hostility includes reeducating Americans suffering from Biden’s War on the Middle Class:
And so, part of what the President can do and we can all do is inform and educate the American public about what the facts are here.245
We poor, dumb Americans can’t figure it. According to Psaki the problem is capitalism, not incompetent leadership:
So, it’s really up to the oil companies to determine whether they are going to — as well as Wall Street — whether they’re going to reinvest these war profits from high prices back into the economy, raise production, and lower prices to American consumers. And that pressure should be on them.246
Psaki should have checked in with the president so they could get their stories straight. The president offered this appallingly terse statement yesterday for Americans hurt by skyrocketing gas prices .
Q: Mr. President, do you have a message for the American people on gas prices?
THE PRESIDENT: They’re going to go up.247
Then he washed his hands of their problem:
Q: What can you do about it?
THE PRESIDENT: Can’t do much right now. Russia is responsible.248
Can’t do much or don’t want to do much? When you have political points to score and a golden opportunity to show people the evils of fossil fuels, why would you care who gets hurt?
March 10, 2022, 8:15 a.m.:
Biden’s War on the middle class just scored another victory.
This morning the Bureau of Labor Statistics confirmed that Biden’s War on the middle class is going even better that the White House could hope. The Consumer Price Index rose again in February, so Joe has no need to fear that he will lose his claim to the highest CPI in 40 years.
As the BLS points out, gasoline, shelter, and food were the big winners for price increases with gasoline topping the list with a 6.6% increase for February. Perhaps middle class families can save some money on gas since they won’t be able to afford as much at the pharmacy or grocery store. If the White House propaganda meisters think hard, they can probably spin this as a good thing. More time at home with the family, anyone?
