UPDATE August 13, 2022:
Biden administration weaponized America’s rule of law, but the left need not worry.
On Tuesday Peter Doocy tried to get a straight answer from Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre as to whether the White House is “weaponizing the Justice Department and the FBI against political opponents.” This was her response:
Peter, the President believes in the rule of law. The President believes in the independence of the Department of Justice.469
The first part of her answer is false. So blatant is the Biden administration’s arbitrary exercise of the rule of law that the White House should replace the phrase with something like “the rule of the left.” We can safely assume this is what Attorney General Merrick Garland was referring to during his Thursday Mar-a-Lago damage control speech:
Faithful adherence to the rule of law is the bedrock principle of the Justice Department and of our democracy.470
Jean-Pierre’s assurance of “the independence of the Department of Justice” is important. The White House uses the rule of law as a political cudgel. Now the Biden administration is backed into a corner after insisting the president had no knowledge of the FBI raid on Trump’s Florida residence. That leaves the responsibility with Merrick Garland and his supposedly independent DOJ.
The timing of a presidential vacation that started right after the incident also gives us reason to wonder when the raid was planned and who knew about it beforehand.
Back to the press conference, where Jean-Pierre failed to answer how the rule of law works with Biden in charge:
Q Yeah, and then also you said that the President believes in the rule of law. Does he believe in the rule of law when it comes to the former President or even his son?
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: I’m not going to — I’m not going to comment any more on —
Q And — and —
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: — on both of those topics that you just mentioned.471
She used “very clear” twelve times during the press conference. The very clear truth is that the Biden administration turned a fundamental American value into a political weapon.
To have any value the rule of law must apply equally to everyone, or at least that’s what Garland claims:
Upholding the rule of law means applying the law evenly, without fear or favor. Under my watch, that is precisely what the Justice Department is doing.472
Whether or not you believe him is another matter. From 2020’s massive outbreak of “peaceful” urban domestic terrorism that was never investigated like the January 6th riot, to the refusal to enforce a law protecting Supreme Court justices despite an assassination attempt, to the refusal to enforce immigration law and a secure border, to the harsh treatment dished out to associates of Donald Trump like Peter Navarro and Paul Manafort, the Biden administration has effectively destroyed America’s impartial rule of law. Even criminals and illegal immigrants reap the benefits of a value that only applies to those the White House and Democrat Party view as political threats.
Despite Democrats’ habit of promoting and then justifying political violence, Jean-Pierre insists:
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: So, we’ve been very clear, and so our message is this: that the President and this White House — there is no place for political violence in this country. People have the right to raise their voices peacefully. But we would strongly condemn — as we have many times from here — the President has condemned any efforts to plan violent behavior of any kind. And so we would — we would ask Americans to remain peaceful in this time.473
What changed? She was referring to alleged threats of violent behavior from the right in the wake of the Mar-a-Lago raid. As we’ve seen repeatedly, violent behavior from the left is much less of an issue and best ignored.
The rule of law is a wonderful thing when it means you never have to worry about being held accountable to the same standard as your political opponents. This makes it one of the most valuable weapons in Joe Biden’s arsenal. If we ever find out the truth about what the raid on Donald Trump’s Florida residence was all about, I suspect we will have a prima facie example of just how arbitrary the rule of law can be in the hands of those who care only about protecting their own power and privilege at the expense of those who disagree.
UPDATE August 17, 2022:
Victorious Biden makes his contempt for the lifeblood of America more shocking and offensive than ever.
When a jubilant Joe Biden finally signed off on his Green New Inflation Reduction Deal yesterday, he did what all Democrats do when they screw working class Americans:
And I’m about to sign the Inflation Reduction Act into law, one of the most significant laws in our history. Let me say from the start: With this law, the American people won and the special interests lost. The American people won and the special interests lost.474
Did he mean most significant lies in our history? It’s absolutely astounding that the president would claim that the people won and special interests lost out with this bill, until we realize that he’s sparing America’s climate activists and China’s clean energy export industry. The special interests he’s referring to are pharmaceutical companies, the very same industry his administration threw untold sums of money at for vaccines that didn’t keep the president or his wife or me from contracting COVID despite Biden’s claim that if you get the vaccine, you won’t get sick.
After Democrats lied repeatedly that the purpose of their newest massive spending bill is to reduce inflation, they backed off when they knew the deal was a slam dunk. Ignoring the disinformation spread by his party to deceive Americans, Biden had the audacity to claim that this boondoggle has something to do with democracy:
It’s about showing the American [sic] and the American people that democracy still works in America — notwithstanding all the — all the talk of its demise — not just for the privileged few, but for all of us.533
Not just for the privileged few, eh?
This is how much Biden says saving the planet will save your family.
The White House wants you to know how the bill’s climate provisions will lower your cost of living. For example, you can cash in on:
Up to $7,500 in tax credits for new electric vehicles and $4,000 for used electric vehicles, helping families save $950 per year.475
$950 per year is $79 in savings per month, though the White House doesn’t say in relation to what. Paying Biden’s high fuel prices, perhaps?
Not in the market for an expensive electric car you can’t afford? How about this:
7.5 million more families will be able install solar on their roofs with a 30% tax credit, saving families $9,000 over the life of the system or at least $300 per year.476
$300 per year is $25.00 per month, assuming you have the cash on hand to take the president up on his offer.
These sure sound like tax savings for people with plenty of extra money, unless the prices of electric cars and Chinese solar panels suddenly plummet. The good news is that if these things are too rich for your income, there are more options to save:
$14,000 in direct consumer rebates for families to buy heat pumps or other energy efficient home appliances, saving families at least $350 per year.477
$350.00 per year is $29.00 per month, which probably pales in comparison to the amount this president takes from you every time you go to the store or fill up the humble, gas-powered vehicle that your income will support.
We all know that in the end this is about one thing and one thing only and it’s not democracy or the American people:
Putting America on track to meet President Biden’s climate goals, which will save every family an average of $500 per year on their energy costs.478
So funding Biden and the Democrats’ campaign platform will save American families $500 per year. That’s about $41.67 per month or $1.36 per day. Compare this to what we’re spending to survive this Biden economy and tell me how this is a win for working class Americans, the lifeblood of our nation. The real goal of this legislation is to use the taxes from hard working families to fund tax credits for those who can afford expensive luxury electric vehicles and solar panels for their mansions while Democrats assure us that the corporations who will raise their prices to retaliate for the bill’s tax provisions are footing all the costs.
Near the end of his victory lap the president let a little honesty creep in:
This bill is the biggest step forward on climate ever — ever — and it’s going to allow — it’s going to allow us to boldly take additional steps toward meeting all of my climate goals — the ones we set out when we ran.479
Those climate goals are all about special interests and rewarding Biden and the Democrats’ big money, elitist campaign donors who don’t give a damn about America’s working class and are foaming at the mouth to destroy our enormously successful fossil fuel-based economy because no matter how bad things get, they won’t be impacted.
When you deny that a recession is happening, claim we were at 0% inflation in July, and refuse to credit your vow to end fossil fuels for the damage done to America’s economy, then it’s easy to pretend that working class families will go out and buy a Tesla to cash in on a $7,500 tax credit that saves them $79.00 per month. It’s even easier when you don’t care because deep down you know you serve at the pleasure of special interests and there is nothing you won’t do to make them happy.
UPDATE August 21, 2022:
On World Humanitarian Day, Joe Biden forgets that America doesn’t have a great humanitarian president.
By now the Biden administration’s disrespect for the truth is so ingrained in its public communications that anything goes, no matter how unbelievable or outrageous. When gas prices exploded because of the White House’s anti-fossil fuel policies it was Vladimir Putin’s fault. A clever economic sleight of hand gave us 0% inflation in July. According to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas our border with Mexico is secure, a statement even FBI Director Christopher Wray would not confirm when questioned by Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) on August 4, 2022:
Sen. Cornyn: “Director Wray, I’ve always thought of you as a straight shooter, but you won’t answer that question?”
Dir. Wray: “Well, look, I think the border presents significant security issues. There’s a wide array of criminal threats that we encounter down at the border…”480
There are threats at the border and also threats that come directly from White House policy. What can we say of a president who purposely created and maintains an unprecedented humanitarian crisis at our border for political purposes that is right out front for everyone in the world to see?
Encouraging illegal immigration, as the president’s policies have done, has contributed to a humanitarian crisis that saw at least 557 migrants die attempting to cross the southern border during fiscal year 2021. Just last month, 53 migrants died in an un-air-conditioned tractor-trailer after being smuggled across the border. It was a sobering reminder of the human cost of policies that enable illegal immigration.481
These are some of the deaths we know about. There is no way to estimate how many migrants die during their journey, or how many women and children are raped or suffer other traumatic abuse because they got the message that Joe Biden will welcome them into the promised land.
Against this backdrop of a still unfolding humanitarian catastrophe at our border and another in Afghanistan that is also Biden’s doing, the president commemorated World Humanitarian Day. As with everything he talks about, climate change is part of the problem:
It is unconscionable that many of the worst drivers of displacement and humanitarian need, including conflict and climate change, continue unabated.482
Assuming he cares, Biden probably never considered that he is America’s worst driver of displacement and humanitarian need. Instead of taking proactive measures to fix the damage he’s caused, the president refuses to give up on making the problem worse by eliminating Title 42, a policy that has been kept in place by the courts:
The Administration disagrees with the court’s ruling, and the Department of Justice has announced that it will appeal this decision.483
The president indulged a little hypocrisy by crediting the hard work of humanitarian aid workers:
Today, on World Humanitarian Day, we honor the humanitarian workers around the world who need our protection and support more than ever as they carry out their life-saving work.484
The administration turned our Border Patrol into humanitarian aid workers, but again politics takes precedence over doing the right thing. Overwhelmed agents found themselves wrongly accused of racism when the media, White House, and Democrats got their hands on footage they falsely claimed showed the Border Patrol whipping migrants. Biden vowed revenge, and even after the agents were cleared punishment remained on the table. This led Congressman Michael Guest (R-MS) to introduce a resolution condemning the administration’s handling of the incident:
President Biden, Vice President Harris, and others in the Biden Administration manufactured a political scandal by targeting the agents who are working hard every day to secure our border and protect our nation,” Guest said. “As the morale of our border agents remains low due to extreme pressure and long hours exacerbated by the President’s border crisis, the last thing they need is their elected officials turning their backs on them or, in cases such as Del Rio, publicly betraying them. 485
Despite Biden anti-humanitarian border policy, he gave the U.S. credit for supporting humanitarian relief:
The United States is the world’s largest humanitarian donor, but we know that funding is not enough.486
This may be true, but you also have to stand behind your money with ethics and principles that support your words and deeds. Joe Biden can’t and won’t do that. He is more than willing to watch America’s own humanitarian nightmare get worse by the day for the sake of scoring a few activist political points to shore up a legacy that is already tarnished beyond repair.
UPDATE August 24, 2022:
You thought screwing us with his student loan bailout was the worst thing Biden did today?
We knew it was coming, but I’m still too angry about Biden’s student loan bailout scam to discuss it intelligently. Suffice it to say there was no forgiveness when my loans came due. My income was irrelevant. To quote a favorite line from Goodfellas, it was f*** you, pay me. Now I’m forced to pay off student loans a second time because our worst in memory president is desperate and doesn’t care who he hurts as long as he manages to ingratiate himself with anyone who might throw Democrats some campaign cash this fall.
If you thought the student loan bailout was as bad as it would get today, you were wrong. After giving Americans another reason to be as financially reckless and irresponsible as our government, the president turned his attentions to another group of people with their hands out: illegal immigrants.
In a short, trite statement about America’s illegal Dreamers Biden promised:
I will do everything within my power to protect Dreamers, but Congressional Republicans should stop blocking a bill that provides a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers. It is not only the right thing to do, it is also the smart thing to do for our economy and our communities.487
When you hear a Democrat like Biden say something is right and smart for the economy, you know we are in trouble. He told us the same thing during his March 1, 2022 State of the Union:
It’s not only the right thing to do, it’s economically smart thing to do.
We’ve heard the plea for amnesty for whatever a “Dreamer” is going back to the Obama days, but the disturbing thing this time is that there is apparently no one on the planet capable of stopping the president from waving his magic wand and doing whatever the hell he wants. Instead of screaming to the rafters about what Biden and his flunkies have done and continue to do to destroy our country, Republicans seem content to sit back and wait to win the midterms despite giving Americans little reason to make that happen while Biden comes up with handout after giveaway to drive votes to his party.
America is stuck with a dangerous, desperate, barely functioning president who just let god knows how many illegals into the country who might want a little amnesty and American citizenship for themselves. Rest assured that granting amnesty and a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, which will become a deceptive umbrella term to give a pass to as many illegal foreign nationals as possible, will not be where this ends.
This is the foot in the door that can’t happen. Biden is hell bent on destroying every vestige of responsible governance, so don’t think for a second that anything is off the table. He doesn’t care who he hurts. He doesn’t even care who he helps as long as it makes him look good and pacifies his activist donors. As the illegals keep pouring in there is a growing, untapped reserve of undeserving people who I have no doubt the bright bulbs in the White House are brainstorming at this moment to turn into America’s most vulnerable and deserving.
UPDATE August 26, 2022:
This is not our America: your president hates and fears you and he isn’t ashamed to admit it.
If you’ve ever had the slightest doubt about how Joe Biden feels about anyone who opposes his extremist agenda, the president erased that confusion yesterday:
And what we’re seeing now is either the beginning or the death knell of an extreme MAGA philosophy. It’s not just — it’s not just Trump. It’s the –it’s the entire philosophy that underpins — it’s — I’m going say something — it’s almost like semi-fascism, the way in which it deals.488
Semi-fascism? That’s a pretty hypocritical accusation from a big government autocrat whose administration labeled parents as possible domestic terrorists and thought a federal disinformation censorship board was a good idea.
This is not a traditional conservative Republican; this is a different deal.489
How many times have we said the same thing about this extremist, radical left president who ran as a paternalistic, moderate Democrat? The fact is that Trump is looking pretty good for 2024 despite the government’s efforts to find something criminal to charge him with. Biden labors under the delusion that this isn’t the case:
That’s where — that’s where we are right now. So, we’ve got to win, and we’ve got to set the sta- — and I believe, and the data shows, that a significant portion of Republican party agrees with us. They agree with the fact that the MAGA crowd has gone much too far — much too far in their view of what the role of government is.490
If he expects us to believe that a significant number of Republicans believe conservative Americans are “semi-fascists,” then he’s even more cognitively impaired than we feared.
Publicly professing unbridled contempt for millions of our citizens in an effort to turn opposing political views into a national threat is a lot closer to fascism than anything conservatives or Donald Trump have done. This isn’t our America. This is Joe Biden’s hateful, divisive America and it has to change before it destroys our country and everything we stand for.
UPDATE August 27, 2022:
We’re waiting: what do you mean by calling Americans semi-fascists, Joe?
The only thing more disgusting and un-American than a failing political hack like Joe Biden labeling good citizens he disagrees with “semi-fascists” is his refusal to explain exactly what that term means to him. Instead of an explanation, we got laughter from the president yesterday, as if his remark was a joke:
Q : What did you mean by semi-fascism, sir?
THE PRESIDENT: (Laughs.) You know what I mean.491
I don’t think there is anything funny about what he said. It didn’t sound like a joke when he said it. Americans deserve an explanation for why our president thinks we are fascists, semi-fascists, Nazis, white nationalists, neo-Nazis, or whatever else he implied with that statement. Until he explains, we can only assume the worst and add this to the list of remarks that prove just how much Joe Biden despises millions and millions of Americans because we don’t like what he’s done to destroy our country.
