Hypocrisy update June 22, 2023:
#246: Harris uses women’s rights to criticize America, but she forgets two inconvenient details.
When the Biden-Harris team hits the road for campaign appearances it brings to memory the Forrest Gump saying about a box of chocolates. We never know what we’re going to get. We know it won’t be good and like a bad piece of candy, we’re inclined to spit out whatever we hear, but it’s still difficult to resist watching this horrendous tragicomedy unfold.
Kamala Harris doesn’t have the easy excuses available to Joe Biden when she stumbles in public. I suspect the spectacle is reassuring for Democrats who know she is the perfect impeachment insurance policy. The prospect of a President Harris is so horrifying that Biden’s cognitive malfunctions and even James Comer’s (R-KY) allegations of bribery and corruption seem tolerable in comparison.
There is only one problem. The fact that people don’t expect much from you doesn’t mean you aren’t responsible for what you say if you are Vice President of the United States. Harris is about as self-aware as a brick, which only compounds America’s agony when she opens her mouth to speak.
Such was the case at a campaign stop in Dallas on Tuesday. Harris stumped for global women’s rights with one of her nonsensical word salads. This time she tripped herself up talking about role models as she criticized America:
Well, this is a room of role models. Here’s the thing about being a role model: When you’re a role model, people watch what you do to see if it matches what you say. And a great fear of mine is that in the midst of all of the injury to the American people, this has an impact on people around the world — people who are fighting for rights, individual rights; women who are fighting for rights in their country, where some dictator or autocrat will look at them and say, “You want to hold out the United States? Look at what they’re doing. You be quiet.” Understand the implications.686
Did she forget about Afghanistan?
The vice president should have checked in with her Democrat Party colleagues on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, who fully understand the implications of Biden’s disastrous withdrawal. They recently held a meeting on the “Crisis Facing Afghan Women and Girls” that makes America look like a pretty good place for women to live:
Since the Taliban take over, nearly 20 years of progress in women’s rights have been erased. The Taliban has issued more than 30 edicts aimed at severely limiting women’s freedoms.687
This is what the Biden-Harris administration created:
Afghan women and girls are not allowed to go to public parks. They’re required to cover their faces in public, and must be escorted by a male chaperone, or “mahram” whenever they leave the house.
The Taliban has essentially banned women from public life and intends to permanently place all women on house arrest.
Quite frankly, they’re treated like property.688
Worse yet:
Moreover, in addition to losing their rights and their freedoms, women and girls who disobey the Taliban’s edicts have been flogged, whipped, stoned, tortured, and killed. Afghan women are forced into marriages with Taliban fighters and face constant threats of sexual assault.689
There is no excuse, no justification or rationalization for what the White House did in Afghanistan. The vice president did not mention this women’s rights catastrophe in her remarks. The administration prefers to pretend it never happened, including the loss of 13 U.S. servicemembers who died because of the president’s ill-advised foreign policy decisions.
America does have a legitimate women’s rights issue, albeit one promoted by the vice president and her party: biological men competing in women’s sports. When House Republicans put H.R. 734, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023 up for a vote, Democrats were proud to oppose this legislation protecting women’s rights:
Today, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03) voted against House Republicans’ legislation to implement a trans and intersex sports ban. H.R. 734 amends existing law to make it a violation of Title IX for recipients of federal aid to allow transgender girls or women to participate in girls’ and women’s athletic programs. The legislation would effectively ban all trans girls, trans women, non-binary individuals and intersex individuals from participating on sports teams.690
Per protocol, Trahan called the bill “transphobic” and “the latest in a slew of attacks against LGBTQI+ kids.”691 This is what the bill calls for:
“(d) (1) It shall be a violation of subsection (a) for a recipient of Federal financial assistance who operates, sponsors, or facilitates athletic programs or activities to permit a person whose sex is male to participate in an athletic program or activity that is designated for women or girls.
(2) For the purposes of this subsection, sex shall be recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.
Republicans unanimously approved the bill. In a victory for the rights of biological males to destroy women’s sports, House Democrats stuck together and voted no.
Harris is right. Look at what we are doing.
Hypocrisy Update June 27, 2023:
#247: Democrats speak out against presidential corruption.
By now we should all be thoroughly jaded with the dizzying heights Democrat hypocrisy attains when it comes to defending one of the party’s own. The false, unfounded, and debunked allegations they dreamed up to attack Donald Trump are quite a contrast to House Oversight Committee evidence pointing to Biden family corruption and cover-ups by federal agencies that Democrat Party hypocrisy prefers to ignore.
America’s corrupt, two-tiered system of justice violates every ethical principle our nation stands for. Democrats are willing to pay this price if they are the ones who benefit. Hypocrisy is not something that bothers them. This is partisan politics. Duplicity abounds.
When they don’t perceive a benefit from corruption and especially when their team is losing, Democrats wholeheartedly endorse ethics in government even if they have to fabricate the transgressions they scrutinize, which is what they did when Trump was in office.
This is what Democrats said about corruption when Trump was the target.
Democrats took a stand, albeit a decidedly partisan one for the American people against alleged Trump administration corruption with their Curb Objectional Redirection of Resources and Unconstitutional Payments to Trump (CORRUPT) Act.
Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) introduced the bill:
The American people are fed up with the rampant and unapologetic corruption in the Trump administration,” said Rep. Ruben Gallego. “Donald Trump and his family are lining their pockets with taxpayer dollars. We introduced the CORRUPT Act because Congress and the American people deserve full transparency about how Trump and his family are profiting from the presidency.”691
Comment: four years later Democrats don’t believe Americans deserve any transparency from Joe Biden and even if we did, we’re not going to get it.
From Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA):
President Trump has been in violation of the Constitution since he was sworn into office,” said Rep. Ted Lieu. “The Emoluments Clause clearly states that a President can’t profit off of the status of the highest office in the land and yet that hasn’t stopped the Trump family from lining their pockets at taxpayer expense. I’m proud to join my colleagues introducing this bill so that we can finally get to the bottom of Trump’s self-dealing.”692
Comment: we’re still waiting for Biden’s party to get to the bottom of allegations about his self-dealing, or even acknowledge that credible evidence of malfeasance exists.
From Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA):
The American people deserve better than an administration that appears to be for sale to businesses eager to line the President’s pickets,” said Rep. Jayapal. “Trump is using his power for his own gain, but it’s not the job of the American people to support his inane business ventures and Mar-a-Lago visits. The CORRUPT Act ensures something that people across this nation expect and deserve: transparency. It’s past time for the president to be held to that standard.”693
Comment: even if this were true, better that our businesses line our leader’s pockets than foreign adversaries and especially the CCP.
There’s that “T” word again. We’re still waiting.
Jamie Raskin (D-MD):
Government in democracy is for the common good but government in a dictatorship is a money-making operation for the ruler and his family and friends. Which one are we going to be?” said Rep. Jamie Raskin.694
Comment: we have a pretty good idea which one we are now and it has nothing to do with Donald Trump.
Rep. Brenda Lawrence (D-MI, retired 2023):
The CORRUPT Act would provide the necessary oversight so the American people know just how much the President is using the federal government to increase his wealth at the expense of the American taxpayers.”695
Comment: James Comer (R-KY) is still adding up the numbers for Biden and his family, but we’ve already seen some pretty astounding figures and the congressman is far from finished.
Democrats also introduced the “Restoring the Public Trust Act” in November 2018. This was another attack on the Trump administration that espoused ethical standards the Democrat Party will never apply to Biden:
Our institutions are only as strong as people’s faith in them. In order to restore the public’s confidence in their government, we have to get rid of grifting among those in our highest ranks of office.696
Comment: they are 100% correct. We’re still waiting.
Hypocrisy Update June 30, 2023:
#248: The left decides discrimination against Asian Americans is a good thing, after all.
How times change. It seems like just yesterday Democrats were obsessed with discrimination and hate crimes against Asian Americans. When he presented his May 2021 “Executive Order on Advancing Equity, Justice, and Opportunity for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders,” President Biden turned to Asians for his usual comments about America’s racial failings:
Our Nation has also seen again that anti-Asian bias, xenophobia, racism, and nativism have deep roots in our Nation.697
The left dropped support for Asian Americans yesterday in favor of an opportunity to vilify the Supreme Court over the Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College Affirmative Action decision. The lawsuit was brought on behalf of Asian American students rejected for admission to the school.
We all know that Democrats cannot be racist, not even Joe Biden who warned that integration would create “racial jungles” in our schools. They turned racism into a political label and the sole purview of conservatives and anyone else who disagrees with the left’s agenda. Even now as liberals actively promote discriminating against one of their identity politics favorites, it’s not about them. It’s about the Supreme Court, or at least that’s what radical Democrat Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) wants us to believe:
The court has turned a blind eye to systemic racism and has failed to uphold our nation’s values of diversity, equity and inclusion. All students deserve a fair shot at going to college, regardless of their income, home town or their racial and ethnic background.698
All students do deserve a fair shot, which is why Students for Fair Admissions was brought before our highest court.
Using diversity, equity, and inclusion to discriminate against a group on the basis of their race or ethnicity is a giant step backward. DEI is not even a value. It is a Democrat Party talking point and agenda item that lost all credibility moments after the SCOTUS decision was announced, the outrage began, and discrimination suddenly became a good thing.
After the opinion was released, the president resorted to gaslighting about affirmative action:
Many people wrongly believe that affirmative action allows unqualified students — unqualified students — to be admitted ahead of qualified students. This is not — this is not how college admissions work.699
Perhaps Biden didn’t read the decision or more likely, he only knows what he was told to say. Last year’s support for Asian Americans is probably long vanished from his befuddled brain:
Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities together constitute the fastest growing ethnic group in the United States and make rich contributions to our society, our economy, and our culture. Yet for far too long, systemic barriers to equity, justice, and opportunity put the American dream out of reach of many AA and NHPI communities.700
This should create quite a quandary for Democrats, but hypocrisy is not something they shy away from. When you are always right and everyone who doesn’t agree is always wrong and racist as well, barriers to an unsustainable political position vanish as quickly as a new opportunity presents itself.
As the political left unleashes its wrath to assail another catastrophic loss of freedom in time for a Fourth of July it despises, we are finding out that identity politics condones discrimination under the right circumstances. Asian Americans served their purpose for the Democrat Party. Now it’s time to demonize the Supreme Court, conservatives, and white America over Affirmative Action in what will undoubtedly be the new Dobbs decision for the 2024 campaign cycle.
Hypocrisy Update July 12, 2023:
#249: June CPI confirms Bidenomics works for Americans who don’t eat.
The president wasted no time boasting the success of his Bidenomics 2024 campaign agenda when the June Consumer Price Index numbers were released this morning:
Good jobs and lower costs: That’s Bidenomics in action. Today’s report brings new and encouraging evidence that inflation is falling while our economy remains strong. Annual inflation has fallen each of the last twelve months and is now down to 3%.701
I doubt that Joe opens his wallet to eat. Even presidential ice cream cones are likely paid for by a lackey with cash or whoever sets up his photo ops. That makes it easy to ignore the portion of the CPI news release that matters to Americans who pay for their food when they go to the grocery store or a restaurant:
The food index increased 0.1 percent in June after increasing 0.2 percent the previous month. The index for food at home was unchanged over the month while the index for food away from home rose 0.4 percent in June.702
According to the BLS, that 0.1% increase was a small part of a worse picture:
The food at home index rose 4.7 percent over the last 12 months. The index for cereals and bakery products rose 8.8 percent over the 12 months ending in June. The meats, poultry, fish, and eggs index declined 0.2 percent over the year. The remaining major grocery store food groups posted increases ranging from 2.7 percent (dairy and related products) to 7.6 percent (nonalcoholic beverages).703
For those who can’t cook or opt for a night out:
The index for food away from home rose 7.7 percent over the last year. The index for full service meals rose 6.2 percent over the last 12 months, and the index for limited service meals rose 7.8 percent over the same period.704
That’s Bidenomics in action, folks. For the vast majority of Americans who could stand to drop a few pounds this might be good news, albeit for all the wrong reasons. For the “average American worker” 705 with a family to feed this is hardly a Bidenomics success story. It’s hypocritical credit-taking by a president who hurts the same people he pretends to fight for and likely has little, if any familiarity with what it’s like to have to feed a family when cash is running short and prices are too high.

Boy, Civil Candor you sure called it the way it is. All screwed up! It is hard to see how supposedly intelligent men and women can destroy a country without even trying. All the President and Congress has to do is disagree with each other, pass some stupid legislation and then tell the taxpayers that it is all for their own good and that of the country. Talk about the rise and fall of a country, the US under this administration, will beat all previous records in getting the job done quickly..
Civil Candor says
Supposedly intelligent …
