UPDATE August 27, 2023:
Sacrifice and sacrificed are not the same thing, Mr. President, and lying about it doesn’t absolve you of guilt.
The thirteen service members murdered by a terrorist at Abbey Gate during President Biden’s historic, shamefully botched U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan deserve better than lies and a perfunctory 172-word statement from the man responsible.
One sentence in the White House commemoration “Honoring Sacrifices of the Service Members Killed” stands out:
But we will never fail to honor our sacred obligation to our service members and veterans, as well as their families, caregivers, and survivors.483
As Elle Purnell reports in The Federalist,484 the president’s sacred obligation includes lying to a Gold Star parent about the death of his son Beau, who Biden claimed came home in a flag-draped coffin. Like his remarks to devastated Maui residents, the president has a habit of drawing sympathy to himself, as if he is deserving of equal empathy even when his comparisons are outrageously inappropriate and tone deaf, if not outright lies.
This is not how America honors the sacrifice of 13 dead heroes. It is how Joe Biden puts the loss of service members he sacrificed into a context that absolves him of guilt, accountability, and responsibility.
Texas House Republican Jody Arrington observed this loss of brave American lives by telling the truth:
Two years ago today, President Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan devolved into an international embarrassment, a tragic loss of American soldiers, and a geopolitical catastrophe that emboldened our adversaries such as Russia, China, and Iran.
Nearly 20 years of American military service and sacrifice were undone in a matter of days as President Biden ignored the advice of top military officials, causing serious damage to America’s credibility and the needless loss of 13 American heroes.485
Don’t expect the Biden White House to accept any culpability for one of the most damaging foreign policy and military blunders in U.S. history. As House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) reminds us:
President Biden and his Administration’s decisions during the Afghanistan withdrawal led to the deaths of 13 servicemembers, left Americans completely stranded, allowed U.S. military equipment to fall into Taliban hands, jeopardized progress made by Afghan women, and destabilized the entire region.486
There wasn’t room in Biden’s 172 words for any of these politically damaging details. Instead, the White House offered trite jargon and a nod to the families who deserve accountability and genuine remorse:
We pray for the families of our fallen warriors. We grieve with them, we honor them, and we will always continue to support them.487
At least part of this is true. Americans pray for the families. We grieve with and honor them.
Our president and commander in chief, on the other hand, had an opportunity few of us will. He had a chance to express our nation’s support face to face after sacrificing these 13 Americans on the pillar of his incompetence. Biden told a lie instead.
Jeffries, Clark, Aguilar, and Lieu claim neo-Nazis “armed to the teeth” are marching in America’s streets. Where?
We knew it was coming after the shootings in Jacksonville and sure enough, four House Democrats outdid their usual inflammatory partisanship and false claims with a press release warning:
Neo-Nazis are armed to the teeth and marching in our streets.484
Where is this happening?
They didn’t say.
Why didn’t they say? Because they are liars who know they won’t be challenged.
The four followed up with a threat, though it’s unclear just who and what they are threatening:
No one in America is safe unless everyone is safe.485
If Donald Trump said this, he would be accused of a domestic terror threat and promptly be indicted again. Are they coming after us until violence is eradicated from our country forever?
If so, the issue at hand is damning for the Democrat Party because there is one place where their politicians have control over crime: the cities they govern. From what we’re seeing across the country from New York to Chicago to San Francisco, their equity-focused criminal justice policies aren’t working out so well for law-abiding citizens who just want to be safe.
This assumes Jeffries & Co. have an interest in protecting Americans. If they did, they would work with Republicans to do exactly that. The real concern is hidden in their hysterically overeager partisan rant:
The racist shooting in Jacksonville is the inevitable consequence of reckless public officials who coddle right-wing extremists, whitewash painful parts of our history and flood our communities with weapons of war.486
The obvious insinuation is that Republicans are aware of dangerous, right-wing extremists in their communities and do nothing to stop them.
This is ridiculous, though the reverse is absolutely true. Democrats ignored and even justified the crimes committed during the 2020 race riots, release criminals into our communities without bond every day, seed illegals across the country, and do little or nothing to address the endemic shootings in the neighborhoods where they are the ones responsible for law enforcement. Instead, they concoct other excuses for violence that have political value “like organized terrorists like the KKK”487 and demand that we defund the police.
Those who lost their lives to a white supremacist in Jacksonville deserve better than an unsubstantiated statement about armed neo-Nazis from deranged, foaming at the mouth partisans with nothing constructive to offer except attacking their political opponents while they turn a blind eye to violence promoted by their wayward, progressive law enforcement policies.
Like most things that counter the Democrat Party’s radical narrative, daily shootings in their cities are liberal collateral damage they ignore while the body counts grow and they indulge their leftist wet dream that Nazism and Biden’s GOP semi-fascism are alive and well and thriving in America. If anything is indicative of racism, it’s letting this killing continue when they have the means to intervene and yet do little or nothing to stop it except provide excuses for policies that only make matters worse.
The four conclude:
We urge the Department of Justice to aggressively investigate violent extremists in our society and prosecute them to the full extent of the law. 488
Merrick Garland’s agency should do exactly that and make sure it’s done on a fair, equal, and non-partisan basis that also pursues extremists on the far left. If you believe this is possible, you are probably looking out your window for those armed to the teeth neo-Nazis while you read this.

You’re not wrong only it will take more than just a majority. Unfortunately most Republicans are so afraid that they won’t stand up to the lying oppressive Democratic regime. This is half of the problem. The other half of the problem is that none of the political individuals Republican and Democrat alike are willing to give up their ability to conduct insider trading based on knowledge that they receive from different committees. I wish you were wrong too, Paul, but your comments are spot on. The willingness of the GOP to bend to the will of the Democrat Party is infuriating, including their support of the last omnibus spending package. Democrats know better.
As far as insider trading is concerned, let’s relegate that to the same list as term limits and an earmark ban. The difference between Republicans and Democrats is a lot less than the difference between politicians from either party and the American people. Both know where their money comes from.
