Government hypocrisy example #257: How ironclad is the Democrat Party’s support for Israel?
In a CNN interview yesterday House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) assured listeners that our bond with Israel is ironclad, unshakeable and unbreakable.748
Is this true?
During separate calls to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog over the weekend749,750 President Biden and Vice President Harris pointed out that terrorism is never justified. This is akin to telling the family of a murder victim – and Netanyahu and Herzog now oversee a nation of mass murder victims – that there was no good excuse for what happened. Was this a “despite what others say” apology for the Democrat Party’s antisemitic, anti-Israel faction?
Spare the Biden blame game
Biden’s Israel, Gaza Strip, and Iran policies will be scrutinized and blamed for months to come, but blaming the president for what happened is pointless. Yes, administration foreign policy seems willfully naive. We empowered Iran financially and that created a threat for Israel that just came to fruition, but this isn’t just about Iran or Hamas. This is about two great countries whose contributions to world peace are not only taken for granted, but are intentionally undermined by progressives and globalists who think maintaining peace through overwhelming power is something to be ashamed of.
Biden and Harris’ remarks that terrorism is never justified presume an argument that somehow Israel deserves what it got, which we are already hearing from America’s political left and pro-Palestinian protesters.
Attacks on Trump policies question Democrats ironclad support for Israel
A world without an overwhelmingly powerful America with strong, decisive leadership will find a way to justify and enable terrorism.
It’s impossible to give America too much credit for holding the world together. When America is strong, bad actors recede into the shadows. When America is weak, they flex their muscles. This has never been truer than right now as we risk events in the Middle East, in Ukraine, and in Taiwan that keep inching us closer to World War III.
Nadler: Trump puts us on the brink of war in the Middle East
Democrats who did everything in their power to undermine President Trump’s effort to bolster American strength threatened the consequences of withdrawing from the Obama-era Iran nuclear agreement. Jerry Nadler warned:
President Trump not only represents a serious and pressing threat to our democracy, his actions risk the safety and security of our citizens, our interests, and our allies—including Israel—across the globe. Whether it is out of personal bravado or part of an effort to deflect and distract from his own failures and embarrassments, President Trump has continuously undermined our national security by acting recklessly and without any legal authority or legitimate reason. And he has done so without providing Congress or the American people the legal justification to take such dangerous and provocative action that puts our country on the brink of another war in the Middle East.751
In retrospect, the world would be a lot better off with the congressman’s phony Trump threats to global security than the very real threats we face now, like “another war in the Middle East.”
Sullivan: we are deterring Iran
One month before the terror attacks, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan also blasted Trump’s Iran policy. He took credit for nuclear deterrence, but missed the real threat:
With respect to Iran, I would just point out that, under the administration before the previous guy, Iran’s nuclear program was in a box. The last guy let it out of the box. We are now trying to manage the results of that decision. And we are doing so while deterring Iran from going for a nuclear weapon. And we have thus far been able to do that. It’s something we remain vigilant about every day.752
Thus far just ended. We were not vigilant enough.
Tlaib: attacks on U.S. bases were our fault for killing Iran terrorist Soleimani
When U.S. military bases were attacked by Iran in 2020, anti-Israel Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) blamed Trump for taking out Iran terrorist Qasem Soleimani and presumably begging for us to be attacked in return:
President Trump’s reckless and dangerous attempt to start a war with Iran by launching the airstrike that killed Iranian General Soleimani put our people, diplomats, service men and women, their families, and civilians in harm’s way. Now, Iran has retaliated by launching missile strikes on two U.S. bases in Iraq.753
The preferred policy? Blame America and Israel and appease Iran for our bad behavior.
Democrats push to block arms sales to Israel
In 2021, Democrats banded together on behalf of Palestinian rights with a House resolution to “Block Weapon Sales to Netanyahu:”
“For decades, the U.S. has sold billions of dollars in weaponry to Israel without ever requiring them to respect basic Palestinian rights. In so doing, we have directly contributed to the death, displacement and disenfranchisement of millions,” said Rep. Ocasio-Cortez in a statement. “At a time when so many, including President Biden, support a ceasefire, we should not be sending ‘direct attack’ weaponry to Prime Minister Netanyahu to prolong this violence.”754
They blamed Israel for human rights violations:
“It is unconscionable that, in the middle of a violent conflict that has taken the lives of over 200 people, including over 60 children, that we would continue to sell weapons to one of the parties committing those human rights abuses. Let’s be clear: these are the exact bombs being used to kill children in Gaza right now.755
When our friend and ally goes into Gaza to rid the world of Hamas, expect this one-sided rhetoric to return full force.
Democrat resolution for September 11 anniversary blames America for racism and xenophobia against Arabs and Muslims
We can’t expect support for Israel from the progressive fringe of a party that includes Tlaib and Ilhan “some people did something” Omar (D-MN), who joined colleagues to introduce H.Res.629 – Acknowledging that in the aftermath of September 11, 2001, individuals experienced hate and were targeted by the government on account of their faith, race, national origin and immigration status, and suggesting various forms of relief to support those affected.
The resolution was proposed one day before the 2021 September 11 anniversary on behalf of those impacted by America’s “hateful profiling” since the 9/11 attack:
WASHINGTON — U.S. Representatives Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), Ilhan Omar (MN-05), Rashida Tlaib (MI-13), and Judy Chu (CA-27) introduced a Congressional Resolution today acknowledging the hate, discrimination, racism, and xenophobia that Arab, Muslim, Middle Eastern, South Asian, and Sikh communities across America continue to experience two decades after the September 11 attack.756
This is how the Democrat Party’s progressive fringe honors the thousands of Americans who died on 9/11. It’s impossible to imagine the party will maintain Jeffries’ ironclad support for Israel as the body count mounts and we are inundated with pictures from the war.
Tlaib and Cori Bush (D-MO) blasted Israeli President Herzog’s July address to Congress, accusing Israel of “racism and brutal settler attacks”757 and declaring:
The facts are clear, and the international consensus is resounding—Israel is an apartheid state.758
Now, in the wake of unbelievable carnage over the weekend The Hill reports that Tlaib and Bush again condemned Israel for being an apartheid state after the terror attack.759
FoxNews reports that Secretary of State Antony Blinken took down a post on X yesterday calling for a cease fire.760 This is a perplexing complement to Biden and Harris’ statements that terrorism is never justified. How long before progressive Democrats sweep the weekend’s events under their carpet as the body count grows and Washington’s vocal radical left accuses Israel of the same thing?
Government hypocrisy example #258: House Democrat leader holds terrorists to a higher standard than pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel members of his party
It’s not news to anyone who doesn’t hate Israel that the swift initial blame and denunciation the left lavished on our ally after the missile strike at a Gaza hospital was false and misleading. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) confirmed as much on October 19, 2023. He rightfully blamed Hamas terrorists for spreading propaganda and misinformation:
Earlier today, I received a high-level briefing about the catastrophic explosion at the Al Ahli hospital in Gaza. Based on the information that I have reviewed, it is apparent that the hospital explosion was not caused by a missile fired by Israel. Rather, the explosion was likely the result of an errant Islamic Jihad rocket. The misinformation propagated by Hamas is recklessly exacerbating unrest in the region and throughout the world. It is important that the dissemination of misinformation cease and desist during this extremely volatile time.761
Hamas terrorists are not the only ones spreading this myth. Not all Democrats agree with their House leader’s assessment. Aggressively pro-Palestinian propagandist Rashida Tlaib (D-MN) released this statement four days later:
I cannot uncritically accept Israel’s denials of responsibility as fact, especially in light of confirmation from the World Health Organization that Israel has bombed numerous medical facilities in Gaza and reports from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society of ongoing threats from the Israeli military to evacuate hospitals.762
She accused Israel and the U.S. government of war crimes:
Both the Israeli and United States governments have long, documented histories of misleading the public about wars and war crimes—like last year’s Israeli military assassination of Shireen Abu Akleh and the false claims of weapons of mass destruction that led our country into the Iraq War—and cannot clear themselves of responsibility without an independent international investigation. This debate should not distract us from the urgent need for a ceasefire to save innocent civilian lives.763
We are overly familiar with anti-Israel outbursts from Tlaib, who refuses to back down and keep her sympathies to herself. Based on experience she knows that Democrats will stick together and never move against her despite a long history of antisemitic remarks and her latest propaganda assault.
Considering the rapidly evolving coalition of adversarial actors China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran, the terrorist elephant in the room that escapes mention by Tlaib and other vocal anti-Israel Democrats, and the impotence of a United Nations and international organizations that also call for a ceasefire that treats the genocidal loss of Jewish and American lives as a forgivable event, it’s safe to say we already know what the results of an international investigation will be.
Ceasefire Now resolution shows where supporters loyalties lie
Even more concerning is the Ceasefire Now resolution pushed by thirteen Democrats including Tlaib764 that whitewashes the October 7, 2023 terror attack by focusing attention on Palestinian deaths first and foremost:
Whereas, between October 7 and October 16, 2023, armed violence has claimed the lives of over 2,700 Palestinians and over 1,400 Israelis, including Americans, and wounded thousands more;
There is no source or attribution for the 2,700 Palestinian deaths, though given Tlaib’s distrust of sources about the Gaza hospital strike it seems appropriate. Instead, we are handed a long list of organizations endorsing the resolution that includes Black Lives Mater and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR).
This Democrat Party legislation calls for a White House-backed ceasefire and prompt delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza. There are no provisions to end the terror attacks against our ally.
With other members of the House Democrat Squad feeding the radical left’s pro-genocide, anti-Semitic, anti-Israel narrative, it’s time for Jeffries to step up and denounce the pro-Palestinian extremists in his party whose actions and remarks tacitly support Hamas and Iran at Israel’s expense.
Will he do it? Not on your life. Democrats stand united no matter what their members say or do. In the days to come they will gradually disregard the 1,400 dead in Israel at the hands of terrorists who were promptly excused by lawmakers whose extremism poisons the party.
American antisemitism claims a life: Thousand Oaks is the left’s Charlottesville, but don’t expect the same reaction from Democrats
It was only a matter of time. Like the destruction from the left’s 2020 George Floyd “peaceful protests” that were promoted by Democrats while they spiraled violently out of control, we now have a virulent, antisemitic uprising that RedState reports just resulted in the death of a Jewish man in Thousand Oaks, California after an incident at competing protests on Sunday.
Democrats still leverage the political benefits of another protest death that occurred at the August 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. President Biden commemorated the anniversary of the incident with one of his trademark indictments of America’s soul:
Four years ago today in Charlottesville, Virginia the battle for the soul of America was laid bare for all to see.765
Democrats held President Trump accountable for the tragedy. Now they have their own Charlottesville after refusing to unite against antisemitism in America that includes hate from their own radical caucus members.
“No” vote to censure resolution empowers Tlaib
Having escaped a censure resolution last week,* Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) continued to spew inflammatory, anti-Israel propaganda one day after the fatal confrontation:
Meanwhile, each day that passes without a ceasefire brings more death and destruction upon innocent civilians, who have nowhere safe to go, drawing outrage and condemnation from the American people and the international community.766
The radical left conveniently brushes aside the Jewish deaths from the October 7, 2023 terrorist assault on Israel as collateral damage because they conflict with their pro-Hamas apartheid narrative. The alleged loss of 10,000 lives in Gaza takes precedence:
It’s a shame my colleagues are more focused on silencing me than they are on saving lives, as the death toll in Gaza surpasses 10,000. Many of them have shown me that Palestinian lives simply do not matter to them, but I still do not police their rhetoric or actions.767
We’ve heard similar rhetoric from other members of the Squad, though none has risen to the level of Tlaib’s use of the pro-genocide, fundamentally antisemitic slogan “from the river to the sea.”
Now we have to contend with the tragic death of a Jewish man at what will undoubtedly be portrayed by Democrats as a fundamentally peaceful First Amendment protest.
The left has their Charlottesville. How will Democrats respond?
The militant pro-Palestinian movement is difficult to separate from the genocidal terrorist ideology of Hamas. This is the left’s Charlottesville. Democrats should remember how they responded to that tragedy. Trump-hater Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) weighed in:
From the beginning, President Trump has sheltered and encouraged the forces of bigotry and discrimination. We have seen the manifestation of this behavior in the hiring of White House staff members, but also in the unmistakable conduct of his Administration toward immigrants, Muslims, and communities of color.
There is only one side to be on when a white supremacist mob brutalizes and murders in America. The American people deserve a president who understands that.768
134 Democrats signed on to cosponsor a resolution to censure the president after the Charlottesville rally.
What should we expect from the party after left-wing, pro-Palestinian antisemitism set the stage for the loss of a Jewish life in California?
Nothing.
*This afternoon the Washington Examiner reports that the House will advance a new resolution to censure Tlaib introduced by Republican Rich McCormick (R-GA). Assuming a House vote looms, Democrats can record their views on pro-Palestinian antisemitism from one of their own for Americans and the world to see.

Boy, Civil Candor you sure called it the way it is. All screwed up! It is hard to see how supposedly intelligent men and women can destroy a country without even trying. All the President and Congress has to do is disagree with each other, pass some stupid legislation and then tell the taxpayers that it is all for their own good and that of the country. Talk about the rise and fall of a country, the US under this administration, will beat all previous records in getting the job done quickly..
