Government Ethics

When the ends justify the means government ethics is an anachronism. Classic abuses like corruption in office are difficult to ignore and are usually punished sooner or later. A noteworthy exception is the Democrat Party's successful stonewalling of James Comer's investigation into Joe and Hunter Biden's alleged influence peddling schemes and compromise by China and Ukraine.

The worst kinds of unethical behavior are the ones we never see. They undermine what America stands for and what we value. Examples are political rhetoric that distorts the truth, pandering to big money donors, and selecting special interests for legislative favoritism.
All of these things point to how government ethics falls by the wayside when opportunity knocks at the offices of self-serving politicians.

Thanks to Elon Musk and the Trump administration's DOGE initiative, taxpayers finally have some insight into where our money is going. The news is not good. Democrats are furious at having their pants pulled down over covert funding of their radical priorities spread throughout our massive federal bureaucracy.

What is the Government Ethics category about?

The government ethics category is about what happens when political agenda takes precedence over what Americans value. From propaganda to fake new politics to outright thievery, if there is money and power to be had government ethics will be an inconvenience for politicians who place themselves above the best interests of the people.

What You Believe Is Not Your Opinion, So Whose Is It?

October 23, 2015 by Bob Prokop Leave a Comment

Thomas Jefferson worried about electioneering.

Who decides what you believe about politics and current events? Is your opinion yours, or someone else’s creation? More often than not, the controversies we obsess over aren’t nearly as big as they sound. They seem important, but they don’t affect a lot of people. That’s because our opinions on popular hot buttons are not ours. Someone paid for us to have them. Where … [Read more...] about What You Believe Is Not Your Opinion, So Whose Is It?

How to Stop Corruption, Graft, and Payoffs Right Now

Prison Inside Fort Pulaski

We expect corruption from foreign governments. Dictators, payoffs, and graft in South America and more corruption, terrorist infiltration, and money laundering in the Middle East are facts of life. When we hear about them we are not surprised. Corruption is a fact of life here in America, too. It shouldn't be. The difference is that we don’t snicker as much when … [Read more...] about How to Stop Corruption, Graft, and Payoffs Right Now

Drug Abuse Fun: It’s Not Just for Users

September 11, 2015 by Bob Prokop Leave a Comment

Drugs come in and out of vogue. This makes things fun for those who abuse them and interesting for those who make it their mission to stamp out drug abuse. Heroin and prescription drugs are big now, or at least that’s what we hear from experts who claim to know about these things. Methamphetamine might still be popular, but it is not quite as efficient of a killer so it … [Read more...] about Drug Abuse Fun: It’s Not Just for Users

First Responders are Heroes, Villains, and Tokens

September 4, 2015 by Bob Prokop Leave a Comment

What do the Zadroga Health and Compensation Act, 21st Century Policing, and a murdered policeman in Houston have in common? They speak to our current national uproar over the first responders we turned into heroes after 9/11. With another anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks approaching, the image of police as heroes has been tarnished by politics. Are the police … [Read more...] about First Responders are Heroes, Villains, and Tokens

Security, Protecting Privacy Are Not the Real Problems

June 4, 2015 by Bob Prokop Leave a Comment

Too many bureaucratic acronyms are being tossed about lately, like NSA, TSA, DHS, and one that isn't a federal agency, PII.* When you hear these being used by lawmakers you can bet it has something to do with their failed obligations to protect your privacy or our nation's security. That doesn’t mean your privacy is going to be protected or our country is secure. It means that … [Read more...] about Security, Protecting Privacy Are Not the Real Problems
