UPDATE March 24, 2021: freedom to be safe in your home and business because the Constitution allows it
With 2020’s Democrat Party victory came the end of law and order in America. The rule of law is up for grabs. The border is wide open. Violent radical left protests continue. Democrat public officials backed by irresponsible federal lawmakers are empowered to deal with crime by dumping criminals in our cities back on the street.
In a span of weeks Democrats replaced our freedom to be safe in our homes and businesses with worry about what their policies will create.
Illinois set the standard with its dangerous no cash bail Pretrial Fairness Act that should send Chicago residents scurrying for the exit. The bill won’t take effect until January 1, 2023, two months after Governor Pritzker’s bid for reelection. The timing alone should serve as a warning about what no cash bail will bring to our state.
Background check, amnesty bills collide in the House
In the wake of the Boulder, Colorado shooting tragedy the president demanded action to ban assault weapons on the heels of the House’s passage of background check bills H.R. 8 and H.R. 1446. Biden’s March 23, 2021 statement about the incident contained a lie every American should pay attention to:
But I do know this: As President, I can use all the resources at my disposal to keep the American people safe.90
Maybe he can, but Biden and his party are doing just the opposite. House Democrats just passed two amnesty bills to encourage even more unchecked illegal immigration and then they weighed in with their usual anti-gun pomposity:
We are the only global leader to continue allowing these atrocities to occur, and this lack of leadership reflects a moral and ethical decay, and total absence of reason or logic.91
We’re also one of the only global leaders who throw our border open, pay no attention to who or what is entering our country, put these invaders on buses, house them in hotels, and spread them around our communities. Forget the “moral and ethical” decay of the Biden-Harris humanitarian crisis. Biden policies allow criminals and terrorists to enter America with the assurance of catch and release if they are not immediately identified for what they are. Meanwhile, the administration’s historically opaque transparency policy shuts down our information about just how bad the situation is and how much we have to worry about.
The administration’s response to charges it’s not keeping Americans safe? An opportunistic demand for gun control at a time when our government’s anti-law enforcement policies give citizens more reasons than they have had in years to purchase firearms.
It’s been less than three months since Biden and Harris took over. Americans are faced with threats from all sides: unregulated illegal immigration, decarceration, no cash bail legislation, Democrats’ refusal to acknowledge the existence of ongoing domestic terror from the left, and now a mounting federal push to take away our Second Amendment right to do something Biden and President Harris will not: defend our homes, our families, and our businesses.
Today we still have the freedom to defend ourselves but Democrats have a new reason to take away that freedom. They also have the power to finally make it happen while they continue to deny the dangerous consequences of their destructive anti-law enforcement policies that make a mockery of America’s rule of law.
UPDATE April 8, 2021: freedom from unjust taxation
If you wonder whether President Biden thinks the American people are stupid, you found out yesterday:
I’m not trying to punish anybody. But damn it, maybe it’s because I come from a middle-class neighborhood, I’m sick and tired of ordinary people being fleeced.92
So how stupid are we, exactly?
Seven things to ignore about being fleeced by Biden and the Democrats
1. Let’s ignore the fact that Democrats have threatened for years to punish corporate America for welching on their fair share of taxes.
2. Let’s ignore the fact that Biden’s corporate tax hike will be passed down to fleece ordinary people. Even stupid Americans like you and me understand that this is how it works.
3. Let’s ignore the fact that forcing the nation to pay trillions for Democrat Party green energy priorities that make no sense, like coast to coast high speed trains,* is the definition of being fleeced.
4. Let’s ignore the fact that trillions of dollars don’t fall from the sky and yet Democrats are going to use the tax code to take in even more cash they will recklessly spend to further boost the national debt that is owned not by Capitol Hill or the White House, but by fleeced taxpayers.
5. Let’s ignore the fact that Biden isn’t hiding the truth that “infrastructure” means whatever his party wants to spend on:
So I’m prepared to work. I really am. But to automatically say that the only thing that’s infrastructure is a highway, a bridge, or whatever — that’s just not rational. It really isn’t.93
6. Let’s ignore the fact that corporations are actually in collusion with Biden and the radical left. For proof look no further than their willingness to punish Biden’s ordinary Americans in Atlanta, Georgia after Biden and his party spread lies and propaganda about the details of Georgia’s “Jim Crow in the 21st Century”94 voter law:
And it makes it a crime to provide water to voters while they wait in line – lines Republican officials themselves have created by reducing the number of polling sites across the state, disproportionately in Black neighborhoods.95
Even the lefty media cried foul on that one.
7. Finally, let’s ignore the president’s threat that America’s star is falling:
America is no longer the leader of the world because we’re not investing.96
The truth is America is only useful to Biden and his party as a decrepit, debt-ridden, racist failure. To that end they are going to invest by fleecing taxpayers so they can transition the economy to socialism while they simultaneously launch an all-out effort to hand control of our elections to the DNC.
This is the definition of unjust taxation: forcing ordinary people to pay more for partisan priorities that will hurt them.
UPDATE April 14, 2021: remember domestic tranquility?
It’s in the preamble to the Constitution, but let’s face it. Domestic tranquility is dead. Peace in the homeland means no payoff for Capitol Hill, so don’t even think about it.
This didn’t happen because Americans don’t want peace within our borders. It happened because civil unrest begs for some kind of big government overreach that Democrats are very good at, especially when they can slap an anger-inducing, hot button label like racism on a problem.
Inciteful words after the Daunte Wright shooting speak to the determination of some congressional politicians to fuel unrest no matter the consequences of their words:
It is the unfortunate reality that driving while Black, running while Black, walking while Black, sitting in your vehicle while Black, bird watching while Black, serving in the military while Black, and quite frankly – doing anything that any other person could do, but doing it while Black, is dangerous and all too often ends in death.97
Being black in America means you will be killed? That’s what Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) wants you to believe.
Waters put herself in the headlines during the Trump years after she summoned the left to publicly harass administration officials. Her new, anger-inducing words aren’t true of course, with the exception of serving in the military. That’s an inherently dangerous undertaking no matter what your color.
It is undeniably true that resisting the police is extremely dangerous and generally a really bad idea, especially if you already have a record or a warrant that puts an officer on alert. Activist politicians tend to be silent on this kind of detail. That’s why it’s so important for them to get the first words out and inflame the situation before facts are known and due process reveals the truth.
It used to be that the truth was for the courts to decide and not the public, the media, BLM, Antifa protesters, or Democrat Party hacks with something to gain from the mass unrest and violent protests they are completely removed from. After George Floyd due process became just another facet of the systemic racism that suddenly infested every aspect of American life thanks in part to Democrats who leveraged the incident for maximum impact before the 2020 Election.
Facts don’t put power in woke politicians’ hands. Riots do. So do violent protests. They can eagerly point to the unrest they encourage as proof positive of everything that’s wrong with America.
It’s easy to charge that the police are murderous thugs out to kill black Americans, but words didn’t suddenly stop having consequences the day Donald Trump left office. Democrats repeatedly warn us about the power of words when they come from the right. The reverse is never true, though, even while our Constitution’s promise of domestic tranquility falls to their party’s violent foot soldiers.
*RedState published an amusing discussion this week on why Biden’s high speed cross-country rail remarks are so absurd. The article asks a really good question: how fast do you really want to go in a train?
UPDATE April 18, 2021: due process
Justice in America depends on one of our most important freedoms: due process. In criminal cases the accused goes through a pre-defined system. Legal help is provided free of charge if the defendant can’t afford a lawyer. The journey ends with a judge or jury pronouncing a verdict. Sentence is passed.
This is how due process works with angry ideologues calling the shots. Something happens. If the left is lucky it’s a police-involved shooting or something similar. The media latch on. Politicians exploit the situation with half-truths and pleas for justice that reflect politics, not facts:
“My heart grieves for the loss of Adam Toledo, a 13-year-old child who was shot and killed by a police officer earlier this month,” said Congressman Cárdenas. “This tragedy should have never happened. We as a country have lost our soul by accepting the killing of more people on our streets than any other country.99
How does Rep. Cardenas know this tragedy was avoidable? He doesn’t. He wasn’t there. He lives in California, not Chicago but that’s not the point. The point is to deliver a verdict before the legal system intervenes with due process and makes a judgment based on fairness and justice.
While members of Congress hold the police accountable before an investigation is complete and any charges are issued, they are completely insulated from the same kind of accountability and are free to make remarks that are false, misleading, and can have a profound impact on due process.
Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) weighed in after the Daunte Wright incident calling for an end to “police violence and white supremacy.” She claimed that “… violence is a basic part of police interactions with communities of color.”100
So police = violence = white supremacy. That didn’t appear to be the case during the Capitol riot. In fact, Democrats praised brave U.S. Capitol police. The shooting of Air Force Veteran Ashli Babbitt went unnoticed and unrecognized. There was no anger from the left.
We ask police officers to die to protect us. Congressional lawmakers expect the same protection, but they deny the police the basic freedom of due process when they can benefit from politicizing an incident to fit the Democrat Party’s dialogue on violent, racist law enforcement.

People do not understand how the Democrats and the Obama administration are slowly strangling the very freedoms that the Revolution was fought for. The facts are clear when you see the Constitution being trampled on by Obama, and then realize that he could not pass a gun owner background check, which is why he has sealed “ALL” of his records.
If congress were to pass any new legislation on background checking it must include the requirement that “ALL” politicians running for public office must “PASS” those requirements or be disqualified.
As it stands right now, Obama could not ” PASS” a standard FBI check from the details that were written in his book, which is why his certification was challenged. The judges that had cases before them refused to hear the arguments and thusly dismissed those cases. What gutless wonders we have in the justice system including the Supreme Court.

Obama is tearing our nation apart. and he is banking on the ignorant that don’t pay attention. obama has a shady past and i am not convinced that he is a true citizen of the united states. If you vote democrat you are voting to end america as a freedom country. Obama is taking it all away and people are not paying attention. when it’s gone and you are under the control of a dictator you will wish you had paid attention. but this country has been under attack before obama but now it’s speeded up so much it will be a miracle if we can keep it
Bob says
We’ll find out next week how well people are paying attention, won’t we, Sandy? I agree, it’s pretty amazing that no matter how bad things are or how misguided the actions of public officials, they still manage to convince people to support what they do. Watch what happens in the Illinois governor’s race next week. If Pat Quinn wins, it’s a pretty good sign that we are truly lost.

freedom from harm is not a reasonable freedom. Freedom from unjust aggression is reasonable, and the primary reason for government.
Bob Prokop says
Thanks for your remarks, Ed. Interesting how some of what’s happening now at the hands of government could be considered unjust aggression, like the searches they conducted in Rhode Island looking for New Yorkers. It’s difficult to know where to draw the line between government overreach and the public interest, but that was quite a line to cross.

Obama signed a bill to allow the media to profess false narratives for the peoples ow good HR4310

Joseph Goebbels would be so proud.
Bob Prokop says
I don’t know if the intention was to turn lies into the sole means of communicating with the people to the complete exclusion of the truth, but it has certainly paid off for Democrats and the White House.
John Ille says
Wow, the RWNJ is strong with this one.
Bob Prokop says
I’m listening, John.
