UPDATE February 28, 2021: freedom to live and not be killed by reckless liberal policies
The freedom to stay alive is as basic as it gets. That’s why life comes before liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The freedom to live without having our lives endangered by our own government is the very least we should expect.
Sadly, this is not the case with the Democratic Party in charge. Our lives are more at risk than ever thanks to woke liberal recklessness.
Protecting criminals more important than your freedom to live
New York’s law eliminating cash bail only lasted a few months before the state had to add more crimes to the cash bail list in April 2020. In an October 2020 op-ed Congressman Lee Zeldin describes how no cash bail worked out for law-abiding citizens who deserve to be protected from crime:
Shootings are up 166%, murders rose by 34%, and burglaries increased 22% in New York City as of August [2020]. This summer, in one weekend alone, there were 51 people shot in New York City.76
Some of the criminals set free included a serial bank robber and a man who had been arrested 14 times before he mugged an 83-year old woman.77
Nevertheless, Democrats including New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez support the end of cash bail on a national scale.78 This is not a new idea. Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) introduced the No Money Bail Act in October 2019. The difference now is that stupid Democrats have the power to do stupid things that hurt people.
Those stupid Democrats include Illinois lawmakers and Governor JB Pritzker who mugged for the cameras after he signed off on eliminating cash bail in his state despite the violent daily mayhem in Chicago.
Did Democrat Party lawmakers including no cash bail AOC forget how terrified they were when their chambers were breached on January 6, 2021 and they believed their own safety was at risk, or do they simply not care about protecting the masses who are only good for taxes and votes?
I’m opting for the second explanation. Consider all the ways Democrats take away our freedom to stay alive:
Who will answer for nursing home deaths? No one.
Nursing home residents died from COVID-19 because of reckless public policy. New York’s horrifying example didn’t stop the Biden administration from scoring an identity politics victory by nominating Dr. Rachel Levine for Assistant HHS Secretary despite Levine’s legacy as secretary of Pennsylvania’s Dept. of Health. Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) summed up what happened in the state as a “tragically high mortality rate in your state’s nursing homes that shows that more needed to be done, but wasn’t.”79
Thank Democrats for lockdown mortality
Government lockdowns kill people:
Suicide rates have jumped dramatically over the past year. Dementia deaths between March and September jumped 13,000 as patients were left with little means of social interaction. San Francisco reported that additional deaths from drug overdoses exceeded Covid deaths in 2020.80
Democrat-run states were the worst pandemic lockdown offenders. The real toll of depression and suicide will only be known in retrospect when it’s too late to do anything but shake our heads.
Even more ways Democrats threaten your freedom to stay alive
Doling out the COVID-19 vaccine on the basis of equity and identity politics puts lives at risk. This is where equality, not politics should come first.
While cash bail goes by the wayside we also decided to ignore illegal immigrant crime. Thanks goes to Joe Biden once again. Since his administration controls our federal law enforcement agencies don’t expect to hear much about the predictable consequences of this radical left stupidity.
Pushing green solutions to fossil fuels and cancelling Trump-era protections for our power grid endangers lives. What happened in Texas is a warning. It doesn’t matter who wears the blame. Blame won’t bring back the people who lost their lives.
If conservative rhetoric creates violence, does hateful liberal rhetoric create payback?
Stirring up hatred against law enforcement gets police officers killed. Democrats will deny this. In their tiny, woke minds only conservative voices create violence. Hateful liberal rhetoric creates what? Payback?
Not only permitting, but ignoring radical left riots in our cities can only go on for so long before more lives are lost. This is a consequence of radical left law enforcement policies and inflammatory liberal speech that is heating up as summer approaches. Are Democrats hoping for a repeat of the summer of 2020? They have every reason to pin their hopes on exactly that.
UPDATE March 5, 2021: freedom to a fair and speedy trial
This is more properly termed a right, but the expectation of a fair trial is certainly a freedom we value. No one wants to rot in jail waiting for justice to be served.
We don’t want to be judged guilty in lieu of a trial by the people we pay to run our government, either. That’s the strategy Democrats have chosen.
Ryan targets Americans for attack that never happened
The newest threat was an alleged attack on the Capitol that was supposed to take place March 4. Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) warned of this “new Capitol security threat”81 and:
new and concerning information and intelligence that USCP has received indicating additional interest in the Capitol for the dates of March 4th – 6th by a militia group and the potential for protests and demonstration activity surrounding what some conspiracy theorists have described as the “true Inauguration Day.”82
Ryan concluded:
It is heartbreaking that the United States Capitol continues to be a target – not by foreign adversaries – but by our fellow Americans.83
He warned:
It is important to note that this cannot be our new normal – we must look inward and root out these conspiracy theories and hate-filled ideologies wherever they lie. We are better than this.”84
There is certainly plenty of hate-filled ideology festering in Pelosi’s House, but that’s not what Ryan had in mind.
Aguilar spreads threat to local communities
Congressman Pete Aguilar (D-CA) took it a step further. He used a 2015 Islamic terror attack in San Bernardino, California to promote three bills to combat domestic terrorism in the wake of the Capitol riot. Two of the bills extend his party’s threat of white supremacy to local governments:
The PREVENT Act requires the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to provide training to local communities on how to best mitigate threats from extremists such as white nationalists, and the PROTECT Act makes DHS resources available to help local communities prepare for and prevent active shooter incidents.85
He could have said “threats from extremists such as Antifa,” but as far as Democrats are concerned Antifa does not exist. Terror comes from Trump supporters. There will be no trial for these Americans fair, speedy, or otherwise. What’s important is to leverage the fear of white supremacy for as long as they can convince Americans that their friends and neighbors who don’t agree with their political views are a threat.
This is what makes you a threat
Democrats want you to believe that anyone who doesn’t support progressive politicians threaten our security and the survival of our democracy. Those of us who say no will be judged in the courts of the media and the Democratic Party. This trial will never end.
Congressman Ryan is right. We are better than this. It’s who the “we” are that he’s wrong about.
UPDATE March 8, 2021: freedom to protest against radical left Democrats
Democrats did something sneaky to the First Amendment that few are talking about. By spreading fear of another assault on their heavily fortified Capitol Hill fortress and warning that right-wing terror could spread across America they attacked the First Amendment rights of conservatives and preserved this freedom for the violent radical left.
That’s a pretty impressive achievement. Can Democrats really have their freedom of speech and ban it, too?
Illinois Senator Dick Durbin joined in the America-bashing last week. He reached back 150 years to simultaneously spread fear and perpetuate the Democrat Party myth that the Capitol riot was about racism and white supremacy:
The insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol on January 6 did not wear white robes and hoods. They might as well have. They are the latest incarnation of a violent white supremacist movement that has terrorized fellow Americans on the basis of their race, religion, and national origin for more than 150 years.86
Inflammatory disinformation like this is popular with the Democrat Party because it’s the perfect excuse to take away the First Amendment freedom to protest from
conservatives. All left wing politicians need to do is convince the nation that right wing protests are a de facto domestic terror threat. This will justify a massive show of force wherever and whenever peaceful conservatives gather to publicly oppose radical left policies.
Durbin is on the job spreading fear:
We need to be abundantly clear that white supremacists and other far-right extremists are the most significant domestic terrorism threat facing the United States today. 87
The senator and his fellow Democrats are the ones we should beware.
UPDATE March 16, 2021: Democrats will have a tough time giving us back our freedom
The coronavirus pandemic is an American tragedy and it’s not over yet, but the larger tragedy for Democrats is not the death toll. It’s relinquishing control of our lives.
Control is power
State and local officials have had more power over the past year to control what we do than at any time during our lives. Some used that power responsibly. Some did not, especially in true blue states. Don’t expect them to hand our freedom back just because it’s becoming more and more difficult to justify why they took it away.
Do Democrats want us to beg for our freedom?
The only thing worse for the left than losing Donald Trump is losing this pandemic. Democratic public officials will hang on as long as possible, juxtaposing distant hope with threats for non-compliance with their directives.
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker makes this abundantly clear as the numbers in the state decline and vaccination rates increase despite his confusing, equity-based approach that gives the vaccine to smokers and illegal immigrant essential workers while forcing residents just shy of 65 years of age to wait until he’s good and ready.
Pritzker is talking about what comes next. He is obviously thinking about what will happen when the smoke clears and the same blame is placed on him that he still dumps on Donald Trump whenever a microphone appears. Illinois is one of the top ten states for COVID-19 deaths despite his early statewide lockdown order and persisting restrictions, so sooner or later fingers will point at him.
If nothing else Pritzker is a devout party line Democrat. That means taunting us with the possibility of giving back some of our freedom if the numbers cooperate and we do what his public health officials command.
We got the same thing from Joe Biden in his strange March 11 address to the nation:
Because here’s the point: If we do all this, if we do our part, if we do this together, by July the 4th, there’s a good chance you, your families, and friends will be able to get together in your backyard or in your neighborhood and have a cookout and a barbeque and celebrate Independence Day. That doesn’t mean large events with lots of people together, but it does mean small groups will be able to get together.88
That scenario doesn’t sound like a lot of progress. It doesn’t even sound a lot different from last summer. Biden followed up his “good chance” optimism with this:
A July 4th with your loved ones is the goal. But a goal — a lot can happen; conditions can change.89
Independence Day from Democratic pandemic oppression? Don’t bet on it.
When the economy fails Democrats are empowered. They masterminded America’s destructive economic response to the COVID pandemic, pulled kids from school, took away our freedoms, and have little to show for it except trillions in spending on their own partisan agenda and a staggering death toll in blue states including Illinois.
Americans don’t beg for our freedoms because we don’t have to. We aren’t going to cower in our houses this July 4th and we’ll never forget that Democrats need to pay for what they’ve done. We have the freedom to vote these dictators out at the earliest opportunity unless H.R. 1 intervenes to ensure they stay in power forever.

People do not understand how the Democrats and the Obama administration are slowly strangling the very freedoms that the Revolution was fought for. The facts are clear when you see the Constitution being trampled on by Obama, and then realize that he could not pass a gun owner background check, which is why he has sealed “ALL” of his records.
If congress were to pass any new legislation on background checking it must include the requirement that “ALL” politicians running for public office must “PASS” those requirements or be disqualified.
As it stands right now, Obama could not ” PASS” a standard FBI check from the details that were written in his book, which is why his certification was challenged. The judges that had cases before them refused to hear the arguments and thusly dismissed those cases. What gutless wonders we have in the justice system including the Supreme Court.
Obama is tearing our nation apart. and he is banking on the ignorant that don’t pay attention. obama has a shady past and i am not convinced that he is a true citizen of the united states. If you vote democrat you are voting to end america as a freedom country. Obama is taking it all away and people are not paying attention. when it’s gone and you are under the control of a dictator you will wish you had paid attention. but this country has been under attack before obama but now it’s speeded up so much it will be a miracle if we can keep it

I agree, it’s pretty amazing that no matter how bad things are or how misguided the actions of public officials, they still manage to convince people to support what they do. Watch what happens in the Illinois governor’s race next week. If Pat Quinn wins, it’s a pretty good sign that we are truly lost.
freedom from harm is not a reasonable freedom. Freedom from unjust aggression is reasonable, and the primary reason for government.

Interesting how some of what’s happening now at the hands of government could be considered unjust aggression, like the searches they conducted in Rhode Island looking for New Yorkers. It’s difficult to know where to draw the line between government overreach and the public interest, but that was quite a line to cross.

I don’t know if the intention was to turn lies into the sole means of communicating with the people to the complete exclusion of the truth, but it has certainly paid off for Democrats and the White House.
