American Values

The American Ideals and Values category includes posts on freedom and liberty, equality and rights, the battle between liberals and conservatives and most important, what it means to be American.

The bulwarks of American greatness espoused by our Founding Fathers in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution have been replaced by ideals and values dictated by increasingly divisive, polarized politics.

The growing might of a America's radical left undermines, re-imagines, and destroys our fundamental beliefs about what is good, morally justifiable, and worth protecting at any cost, whether that means protecting the sovereignty of our borders, defending the First Amendment, affirming property rights violated by squatters, or saying no to thriving, pro-terror antisemitism on college campuses.

President Biden's weaponized justice, covert censorship, election manipulation, and autocratic executive orders reimagined our great nation and started us down the path to social, economic, and moral decline.

We no longer live in the America envisioned by our Founders. We have devolved into a vicious, valueless Banana Republic for the sake of delivering overwhelming power to one political party.

Despair in America Helps Progressives Exploit Hope

USAID fights despair in Madagascar. Christopher LaFargue/USAID.

When we give money to other countries through USAID our goal is to make it difficult for foreign governments to exploit despair. Why? Despair is dangerous — while poverty does not cause violent extremism, it creates conditions that extremists can exploit.1 The United States is not a third world country. Quite the opposite is true, though you wouldn’t always know it … [Read more...] about Despair in America Helps Progressives Exploit Hope

Hope, Faith in America Battle Democratic Script of Fear and Threats

February 1, 2018 by Bob Prokop Leave a Comment

The most serious national problems are often decided not by facts, but by who yells and threatens the loudest. We just heard a message of hope and faith in America that challenges noisy Democratic harangues about white supremacy, racism, and hate. These diatribes have a single goal: getting rid of the president. The script doesn’t foster unity or hope. It lays the groundwork … [Read more...] about Hope, Faith in America Battle Democratic Script of Fear and Threats

Forgiveness is Not Something America Can be Thankful For

Forgiveness: chart of presidential commutations. Courtesy Obama White House archives.

When I think about what forgiveness means to America I can’t help but remember the long list of Obama pardons and commutations, including the 231 inmates who got lucky1 near the end of his presidency. The Justice Department put the numbers out for all to see. Even Lyndon Johnson didn’t come close to what Obama accomplished. Gun crime forgiveness when the politics is … [Read more...] about Forgiveness is Not Something America Can be Thankful For

Harassment is Welcome Because Our Society Loves Scandal

November 21, 2017 by Bob Prokop Leave a Comment

Gene and chromosome. Does harassment start here?

A nationwide epidemic of sexual harassment is a scandal too good to be true. From all appearances the problem is rampant at the highest levels of our society and that means the hype is what counts even though it mocks this vulgar abuse of power. We love having the dirt dished up about prominent people behaving badly. That means harassment is welcome everywhere we can find … [Read more...] about Harassment is Welcome Because Our Society Loves Scandal

Sensitive People? Americans Too Hung Up to Move Forward

November 3, 2017 by Bob Prokop Leave a Comment

Will sensitive people permit Thanksgiving? Wounded warrior dinner. Official White House photo by David Lienemann.

Halloween is over. This year that’s a good thing. As Townhall observes, even the quintessential kids’ candy fest was trampled by politically sensitive people too afraid of offense to risk being offended for one day. Are we going to be allowed to eat our Thanksgiving dinners in peace or are we too hung up on our history with Native Americans to understand that the past is … [Read more...] about Sensitive People?
