Government Ethics

When the ends justify the means government ethics is an anachronism. Classic abuses like corruption in office are difficult to ignore and are usually punished sooner or later. A noteworthy exception is the Democrat Party's successful stonewalling of James Comer's investigation into Joe and Hunter Biden's alleged influence peddling schemes and compromise by China and Ukraine.

The worst kinds of unethical behavior are the ones we never see. They undermine what America stands for and what we value. Examples are political rhetoric that distorts the truth, pandering to big money donors, and selecting special interests for legislative favoritism.
All of these things point to how government ethics falls by the wayside when opportunity knocks at the offices of self-serving politicians.

Thanks to Elon Musk and the Trump administration's DOGE initiative, taxpayers finally have some insight into where our money is going. The news is not good. Democrats are furious at having their pants pulled down over covert funding of their radical priorities spread throughout our massive federal bureaucracy.

What is the Government Ethics category about?

The government ethics category is about what happens when political agenda takes precedence over what Americans value. From propaganda to fake new politics to outright thievery, if there is money and power to be had government ethics will be an inconvenience for politicians who place themselves above the best interests of the people.

Crime Statistics Don’t Support Being Nice to Felons

September 6, 2019 by Bob Prokop 1 Comment

Common sense tells us that stopping crime means preventing criminals from doing illegal things. That’s not easy. There is enormous political liability in cities where failure is measured in bodies and the crime statistics have to be sold to the public. The numbers spread all the way to Washington, so when stopping crime the right way doesn’t work Capitol Hill is tempted to step … [Read more...] about Crime Statistics Don’t Support Being Nice to Felons

Fat People are America’s Huge Personal Choice Problem

Map of adult obesity by state. CDC image.

93 million fat people are a huge, expensive problem.1 That's nearly 40% of the U.S. population. This statistic should shock. It doesn’t. So many of us are overweight that fat is practically the norm. That’s a bad thing for our country. Despite the justifications, rationalizations, and attempts to glamorize obesity as an acceptable and even fashionable personal choice, we … [Read more...] about Fat People are America’s Huge Personal Choice Problem

Devil is in the Democrats Bargaining for America’s Soul

August 18, 2019 by Bob Prokop Leave a Comment

As badly as they want you to believe it, our country hasn’t turned to the dark side because of Trump. He’s not the devil. The devil is in the Democrats who skulk around waiting for opportunity to knock so they can make another play for America’s soul. Their payday might be a mass shooting. It could be a hate crime. It may be a public appearance and a chance to play fast and … [Read more...] about Devil is in the Democrats Bargaining for America’s Soul

Censure is for Cowards: 4 Reasons to Impeach Immediately

Impeachment ticket. NPS Photo.

House Democrats are a bunch of angry, hypocritical cowards. Impeachment failed during Bill Clinton’s presidency, but at least Republicans made good on their threats after the release of Ken Starr’s damning findings. They didn’t get what they wanted, but they made the effort. Democrats? Lots of words. Lots of threats. Lots of nothing. Now we’re hearing about censure. … [Read more...] about Censure is for Cowards: 4 Reasons to Impeach Immediately
