Liberal Conspiracy Theories Behind New Progressive Budget

Last update May 11, 2017Leave a Comment

Liberals are still adding to the fantasy that foreign interference ruined their bid to keep control of the country. Donald Trump added to the paranoia this week when he axed James Comey. The hearings will drone on interminably no matter what comes of that hasty maneuver. Mountains of time will be wasted. Democrats will chase their tails over a panoply of liberal conspiracy theories that became fact without proof.

This week the Russia scandal crossed paths with a new progressive budget based on the most widely held liberal conspiracy theory of all, that America’s economy is rigged. The Congressional Progressive Caucus took a creative turn with this one. The CPC deserves credit for figuring out how to mix conspiracy into a spending plan.

Does anyone else see the humor in promoting American socialism disguised as a progressive budget while Democrats go after Russia?

Liberal conspiracy theories: this one will never die

The biggest liberal conspiracy theory of all is that corporations and the wealthy are determined to wreck the country. As long as we have an economy and a few people who benefit from it more than others this one is going to stick like glue because people are greedy. We would all like a ready excuse to believe we deserve more, even if we are already rich. How else can we explain wealthy tax evaders and corrupt politicians who risk prison for what they already have plenty of?

When you hear “corporations,” “wealthiest,” and “rigged” in the same sentence you know which side of the aisle it’s coming from. Caucus member Bernie Sanders showed us how it’s done after he got wind of President Trump’s new tax plan:

At a time when we have a rigged economy designed to benefit the wealthiest Americans and largest corporations, President Trump’s new tax plan would only make that system worse.1

While Bernie spewed his socialist politics, the CPC had its say with a “Resistance Budget” for the people emblazoned with the symbol of a clenched fist. What could be more Russian than that?

Resistance budget is just a progressive conspiracy theory

Republicans have their Freedom Caucus. Democrats have the CPC, which is the same thing on the opposite side of the coin. Like the GOP fringe, the Progressive Caucus comes out swinging when it sees an opportunity. Members got that chance when Trump announced his budget proposal.

“The People’s Budget, A Roadmap for the Resistance,” calls itself a “practical, progressive vision.”2 The clenched fist is threatening, considering the violence the left indulged after Democrats lost the election. We already know what happens when liberals are unhappy. They break things.

The People’s Budget seethes with conspiracy:

In order to make these bold, necessary investments in working families, we must rewrite the rules of a rigged economy that favors billionaires and big corporations.3

There are no surprises in this new progressive budget, including the fact that it’s only real purpose is rhetorical. In addition to punishing corporations and the wealthy, the CPC wants to spend $2 trillion on infrastructure, keep Obamacare on the books with a public option, tax Wall Street, support unions, and save us from Russia. The budget:

Protects American elections systems from any interference and increases protections for voting rights by strengthening key election reforms.4

That last one is where this whole liberal fiasco comes full circle. The CPC never says how it will prevent that interference, which is something those in charge of the DNC servers last year still have to answer for. Perhaps it should try convincing Congress to cough up that $2 trillion for infrastructure first.

Blame the left for their conspiracy but please don’t give progressives money

The left is busy scrubbing its hands of complicity in whatever happened or didn’t happen before last year’s election. The irony of Hillary Clinton being undone in part by the alleged hacking of DNC servers her party should have protected better seems lost on liberal crazies who are used to placing, not accepting blame.

The Russian conspiracy is a pretty safe bet to keep Democrats occupied while the GOP goes about the business of running the country. We don’t have to worry about the new progressive budget because it doesn’t stand any more of a chance than proving that Vladimir Putin chose our president. For now liberals can find solace and waste time with their conspiracy theories. Now if we could only find a way to distract the president when he feels like firing someone …
