President’s remarks about the Bill of Rights should offend every American who loves freedom.
If you think you’ve heard every punchline in America’s cognitively failing, autocratic president’s arsenal, guess again. Our commander in chief stumped for freedom and the Bill of Rights during a speech at the Truman Civil Rights Symposium last Thursday:
A covenant — a covenant we made with each other so central to who we are that we enshrined it in our Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident.” Our Constitution: “We the people.” Our Bill of Rights: with the freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and more. All safeguarded in this hallowed place.380
His remarks would have been less offensive had his speechwriters toned down the magniloquence a bit. We know for a fact that the Biden administration opposes all of these things. It’s an insult to Americans who believe in freedom to insinuate that our covenant with “each other” includes Biden or the authoritarian bureaucrats who direct him.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) is more honest about how we enshrine these freedoms:
No other administration in history has threatened Americans’ freedom of speech like the Biden Administration, and we have an obligation to the American people to uphold the fundamental principles of our Constitution.381
Jordan joined Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) to introduce the Free Speech Protection Act:
Americans are free people and we do not take infringements upon our liberties lightly. The time has come for resistance and to reclaim our God-given right to free expression,” said Senator Paul. “Under my Free Speech Protection Act the government will no longer be able to cloak itself in secrecy to undermine the First Amendment rights of Americans.”382
The bill would:
prohibit executive branch employees and contractors from using their positions to censor and otherwise attack speech protected by the First Amendment. The bill will also impose mandatory severe penalties for those executive branch employees who censor speech.383
Does this mean that freedom of speech is a real thing, after all?
The left hates your freedom and yes, the First Amendment is very real.
While Democrats might disagree, the First Amendment is not a Republican pipe dream. The freedom of speech is a major inconvenience to left wing authoritarians who have had quite a bit of fun over the past few years suppressing this fundamental liberty at our expense.
The collusion of anti-free speech bureaucrats with social media companies is back in the spotlight thanks to the Republican takeover of the House. We’re finding out more by the day from joint House Judiciary-Oversight Committee investigations about just how much the president’s phony “covenant” has been compromised to benefit his administration and the radical activist Democrat Party.
A July 17, 2023 Judiciary Committee letter to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg warned of new concerns over his new Threads platform in light past censorship carried out at the behest of our government:
Given that Meta has censored First Amendment-protected speech as a result of government agencies’ requests and demands in the past,7 the Committee is concerned about potential First Amendment violations that have occurred or will occur on the Threads platform. Indeed, Threads raises serious, specific concerns because it has been marketed as rival of Elon Musk’s Twitter, which has faced political persecution from the Biden Administration following Musk’s commitment to free speech.
Despite the president’s assurance that free speech is central to who we are, anyone who keeps track of the Biden White House’s abuses of power knows better. That includes the scheme for the failed, outrageously anti-free speech Disinformation Governance Board to monitor and enforce the left’s interpretation of our First Amendment freedom.
We thought Biden’s anti-free speech board, the censorship of COVID information and replacement with government misinformation, and the collusion to cover up the Hunter Biden laptop story during the 2020 campaign were as bad as it gets for First Amendment freedom in America. Now, we’re also hearing about FBI collusion with a Ukranian intelligence agency to further censor Americans:
Based on a subset of subpoenaed documents, the report details how the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) colluded with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU)—an agency widely known to be infiltrated by Russian-aligned forces—by routinely sending social media platforms spreadsheets and other documents containing thousands of accounts to take down. In so doing, the FBI and SBU flagged authentic American accounts for removal, including a verified U.S. State Department account and those belonging to American journalists. The report also exposes how the FBI offered Facebook and Instagram legal cover to remove the SBU’s flagged accounts.384
Race-baiting Biden preaches the freedoms of democracy.
The president and Vice President Harris are quintessential race-baiters. Biden’s Truman Symposium remarks quickly turned to the racial divisiveness we’ve come to expect from the candidate who repeatedly lied about his goal to unite the country during the 2020 election campaign:
The American military had been segregated since our founding, yet hundreds of thousands — hundreds of thousands of people of color, men and women, still courageously served with a love of country that often didn’t love them back.385
I can’t think of a better description of what this president has done to freedom in America than this accusation:
They sacrificed during two World Wars, fighting against autocracy only to be denied the freedom of their own democracy.386
The freedom of our democracy is routinely denied us by Biden administration bureaucrats and congressional Democrats who have so little respect for the American people that they feel justified censoring valid news and information so they can replace the truth with lies to justify radical policies, shore up their attacks on opponents, and shift election outcomes in their favor.
During a hearing by the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) pointed out how successful denying Americans the right to free speech can be:
And the American people are smart. They know that this was not a hack and dump. This was illegal government censorship to protect and prop up Joe Biden on the eve of the 2020 election, and according to polling, of people who are now made aware of the Hunter Biden laptop story, 53 percent would have changed their vote, including 61 percent of Democrats.387
The laptop story was suppressed because that’s what it took for Democrats to install their figurehead in the White House.
Today Devon Archer is scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee about his dealings with Hunter and Joe Biden. America is in turmoil and suffering under a possibly corrupt and compromised president.
This might have been avoided had a fundamental First Amendment freedom not been circumvented by the authoritarian left. There is a reason Americans own this freedom, just like there is a reason Washington’s deranged political left will do everything in its power to take it away.

People do not understand how the Democrats and the Obama administration are slowly strangling the very freedoms that the Revolution was fought for. The facts are clear when you see the Constitution being trampled on by Obama, and then realize that he could not pass a gun owner background check, which is why he has sealed “ALL” of his records.
If congress were to pass any new legislation on background checking it must include the requirement that “ALL” politicians running for public office must “PASS” those requirements or be disqualified.
As it stands right now, Obama could not ” PASS” a standard FBI check from the details that were written in his book, which is why his certification was challenged. The judges that had cases before them refused to hear the arguments and thusly dismissed those cases. What gutless wonders we have in the justice system including the Supreme Court.
Obama is tearing our nation apart. and he is banking on the ignorant that don’t pay attention. obama has a shady past and i am not convinced that he is a true citizen of the united states. If you vote democrat you are voting to end america as a freedom country. Obama is taking it all away and people are not paying attention. when it’s gone and you are under the control of a dictator you will wish you had paid attention. but this country has been under attack before obama but now it’s speeded up so much it will be a miracle if we can keep it

I agree, it’s pretty amazing that no matter how bad things are or how misguided the actions of public officials, they still manage to convince people to support what they do. Watch what happens in the Illinois governor’s race next week. If Pat Quinn wins, it’s a pretty good sign that we are truly lost.
freedom from harm is not a reasonable freedom. Freedom from unjust aggression is reasonable, and the primary reason for government.
Thanks for your remarks, Ed. Interesting how some of what’s happening now at the hands of government could be considered unjust aggression, like the searches they conducted in Rhode Island looking for New Yorkers. It’s difficult to know where to draw the line between government overreach and the public interest, but that was quite a line to cross.

I don’t know if the intention was to turn lies into the sole means of communicating with the people to the complete exclusion of the truth, but it has certainly paid off for Democrats and the White House.
