UPDATE November 7, 2022:
The only freedom Democrats offer on midterm ballots takes more of your freedom away.
Call it reproductive freedom, reproductive rights, a woman’s freedom to choose, or whatever you wish. Abortion is the only freedom Democrats have to offer tomorrow, or at least that’s what they say. Even Democrat-run states like Illinois, where the issue is moot, parrot the threat that without Democrat Party control at the federal level our freedom is in jeopardy. Mind you, this is a Democrat state where marijuana is legal. Candidates probably assume that we won’t see the obvious analogy as more and more states guarantee the right to smoke pot in flagrant violation of federal drug laws.
The real issue is not abortion. The issue is that when it comes to freedom and individual liberty Democrats lose across the board. COVID lockdowns, the refusal to keep America a free and independent nation safe from invasion across our border, and the denial of our right to an affordable economy using the abundant energy resources we own spell disaster at the polls tomorrow. Even a no-brainer like school choice is contentious for the simple reason that the left wants to control every aspect of our lives, from cradle to the grave, for the fun and profit of activist lawmakers and their radical donors. The only freedom that doesn’t run afoul of their far-left agenda is the right to kill babies with impunity.
The response to the Supreme Court’s return of the right to decide on abortion to voters defines how a democracy delivers freedom to the people. It also shows what a dim view Democrats have of democracy when things don’t go their way. President Biden seems confused about how this works:
Congress should listen to the will of the American people and restore the protections of Roe as federal law.296
That’s a safe bet to make when his party rules Congress with an iron fist. The will of the people is whatever Democrats want. It will quickly turn into an argument for states’ rights if Republicans win control of the legislature.
Democrats don’t want you to have any freedoms that are not dictated by their party. Even something as basic as the freedom to sit in your living room without worrying about bullets flying through the walls succumbs to their activist, defund the police and release the criminals base. Instead of funding more police protection, they throw taxpayer money at social services, push legislation to deny our Second Amendment freedoms, demand we release violent criminals with no bail, and pay exorbitant sums to keep themselves safe and secure.
Now it’s time to be held accountable. Democrats are terrified and they want you to be, too. We’ve heard everything from threats of Nazism to Joe Biden taking credit for a historical increase in fossil fuel production.297 Most important is the only freedom they can offer because it’s not really a freedom at all. It’s more federal control and a denial of democracy when they aren’t in charge of the outcome.
November 19, 2022:
Freedom from Trump might be the answer to our Democrat Party woes.
On Tuesday Donald Trump announced his 2024 run for the White House. Three days later, the Biden administration’s completely and utterly politicized Department of Justice countered by appointing a special counsel as the January 6th Committee’s efforts go up in smoke and ridicule.
Attorney General Merrick Garland was clear about his motives in the newest Biden administration attack on our former president:
Based on recent developments, including the former President’s announcement that he is a candidate for President in the next election, and the sitting President’s stated intention to be a candidate as well, I have concluded that it is in the public interest to appoint a Special Counsel.298
So Garland sees a conflict and a special counsel is the answer. Amazingly, the White House claimed not only once, but twice that the president had no knowledge or information about what his AG is up to:
So just, first, I can just tell you: No, he was not aware. We were not aware.299
But again, we were not given advance notice. We were not aware of this — of this investigation.300
Democrats see pre-empting a Trump candidacy as the only solution to their lackluster slate of presidential wannabes. They installed a president and vice president even Democrats are not particularly fond of and more to the point, politicians who seem incapable of doing anything except creating more problems they can’t solve.
If Democrats want to ensure that a Republican is warming Biden’s chair starting in 2025, then the best thing they can do for the country is free us from Donald Trump. Democrats, the press, social media, vocal left-wing ideologues, and Biden administration hacks have been obsessed with this man for so long that ending a Trump candidacy will destroy their political bearings. Can they regroup in time to come up with believable lies about whoever takes his place? It will be difficult, if not impossible to dream up another Steele dossier. They can’t impeach a candidate who doesn’t hold political office. The January 6th Committee is a fraud driven by Nancy Pelosi’s obsessive hatred for Trump that has already faded into House antiquity whether members know it or not.
Conservatives need to ask themselves one question: do we miss Donald Trump or do we miss what he accomplished? For many of us, it’s the latter of the two. His too-early, childish DeSantis name-calling was an unpleasant reminder of what we didn’t like and frankly, don’t want to put up with again despite Tuesday night’s stirring, hopeful announcement.
Freedom from Donald Trump just might be the answer to our Biden woes and the path to a 2024 victory. The election is only two years away. It’s going to take a lot longer than that for the legions of Trump haters to recalibrate and direct their venom at a new candidate, especially if that candidate does a better job of acting like an adult.
UPDATE November 27, 2022:
Democrats took away our People’s House. We want it back.
With the possible exception of the killing of George Floyd, the January 6th Capitol riot is the best thing to happen to Democrats in years. It gave Nancy Pelosi a historic opportunity to send a clear message to the American people about who really owns the People’s House. National Guard troops were summoned to protect lawmakers at an estimated cost to the People of nearly half a billion dollars.301 The message was clear: our fenced-in, razor wired People’s House is paid for by us and owned by the Democrat Party. The People would get it back when Pelosi was good and ready.
Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-TX) joined 30 lawmakers in a letter to the speaker demanding that she return the People’s House to its rightful owners:
“The American people do not have the luxury of calling in thousands of troops and spending millions of dollars to build barbed-wire fences around their homes when they feel vulnerable. To indulge Members of Congress – particularly if it is at the taxpayers’ expense – with these excessive measures is insulting and un-American.”302
Not only do the American people not have the luxury of calling in the troops when bullets pass through their homes in Democrat-run cities, if the party has its way the people will also be denied the right to defend themselves from criminals the party coddles with woke, activist-friendly criminal justice priorities.
While Democrats hid behind Pelosi’s fence and schemed to disarm the People, they paid for private security to protect themselves. This blatant contradiction between how left-wing lawmakers and their leaders view themselves compared to how they see the rights, freedoms, and lives of Americans is a perfect symbol of our loss of the People’s House. Democrats took it away because they could. We want it back.
The left’s theft of the People’s House is much more sweeping than a simple fence and legislative agenda that includes disarming the public from threats to our safety knowingly created by Democrats. While razor wire served to send the message that Trump foot soldiers were a persistent threat to the nation, the real theft of our voice began when Joe Biden took over and further empowered the radical left. The House Freedom Caucus observes:
The result is that the “People’s House” is serving everyone in Washington except the American people: politicians, connected lobbyists, and entrenched bureaucrats.303
This is why we are saddled with an Inflation Reduction Act that doesn’t reduce inflation. It’s why Americans could die from the cold this winter or will go without food and medicine because pandering to climate activists comes before using the abundant resources under our feet. It’s why our Department of Homeland Security feels empowered to lie to us that the border is secure while our country is invaded by foreign nationals. It’s why the pharmaceutical industry made big bucks from vaccines forced on the American people with the lie that the shot will prevent COVID-19.
It’s why we have a president who could be guilty of the same foreign interference Democrats falsely accused, impeached, and still harass Donald Trump over and yet ignore when it comes from their own White House.
It’s finally time to return the People’s House to the people. If Republicans can wrest it from the un-American, freedom-hating partisans who rule the Democrat Party and restore “the People’s Voice in Congress,”304 they will merit the title Party of Freedom. When and if this happens, we can close this evil chapter in our history and declare an end to rule by Democrats who took away our House and our voice because they wanted our freedom for themselves.
December 2, 2022:
If you question Mayorkas’ competence you might be a violent extremist.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas just released a new terror threat bulletin. Ironically, he’s also under a threat from an incoming Republican House that’s none too happy with his assurances that our border is secure. The DHS secretary’s news release sounds very much like an effort to divert attention from his failures and in keeping with Biden administration orthodoxy, push the narrative that Americans who disagree are enemies of the state.
It’s lucky for the illegals who trespass into our country every day that Mayorkas has bigger fish to fry. While the Biden administration protects these foreign invaders, the secretary warns who we should worry about:
Perceptions of government overreach continue to drive individuals to attempt to commit violence targeting government officials and law enforcement officers. Some domestic violent extremists have expressed grievances based on perceptions that the government is overstepping its Constitutional authorities or failing to perform its duties.305
Perceptions of overreach? Was he referring to the scrutiny of parents who speak their mind at school board meetings, or his own agency’s failed Disinformation Governance Board? The secretary didn’t say.
Could criticizing Mayorkas’ leadership qualify you as a violent extremist?
With January 3, 2023 just around the corner, this certainly sounds like a last-ditch effort from Mayorkas to turn the American people into the enemy to save himself from GOP outrage over illegal immigration:
Historically, issues related to immigration and abortion have been cited by prior attackers as inspiration for violence. Potential changes in border security enforcement policy, an increase in noncitizens attempting to enter the U.S., or other immigration-related developments may heighten these calls for violence.306
As proof he offered some anecdotal incidents like the attack on Paul Pelosi and the shooting in Colorado Springs and not the hard numbers we deserve if this is a widespread and legitimate terror threat equal or greater than the gravity of his border crisis and the possibility that real terrorists crossed into America without our knowledge.
This is another warning from our betters in Washington and an attack on our freedom to be outraged and angry at a lot more than simple “perceptions” of government overreach and in Mayorkas’ case, willful failure. The secretary is gaslighting the public to protect himself. He wants us to question what we clearly see on the news every night and hear from lawmakers who are genuine patriots incensed over what is happening.
Our anger doesn’t make us terrorists or extremists or even bad citizens. It makes us Americans who no longer have a government that reports to we, the people or that we are free to criticize because our perception that Mayorkas is not doing his job may now be a dangerous threat to the nation.
UPDATE December 15, 2022:
#210: White House celebrates our lost Constitutional rights.
I’ll admit I didn’t know there was a Bill of Rights Day until the White House enlightened me:
On Bill of Rights Day, we celebrate the fundamental American freedoms enshrined in those first 10 Amendments to our Constitution and recommit to making the full promise of America real for all Americans.307
That sounds pretty patriotic at face value, but we’ve learned to know better. The Bill of Rights is under attack by Democrats determined to take away our fundamental Constitutional freedoms. The Second Amendment is on the White House-Democrat Party chopping block, the First Amendment was a casualty long ago, and even the Fourth Amendment is in question thanks to Biden administration authoritarianism.
This doesn’t mean the Bill of Rights is useless to the White House. It’s still worthwhile for promoting abortion and LGBTQ-whatever rights and pushing the left’s lie about states restricting the suffrage:
Every generation has had to defend our Constitution, including ours today. The right to choose – grounded in the 14th Amendment, enshrined in a half-century of precedent, and relied on for generations – is now under assault. A wave of anti-LGBTQI+ bills is attacking Americans’ freedom to be themselves. In recent years, at least 20 States have passed laws that make it harder to vote. And we have seen new threats to the rule of law that disregard the will of the people.308
There are still a few of us who don’t rely on alphabet soup acronyms for our self-worth or who value the Constitution for more than the right to kill babies or to spread partisan lies. Our founding documents were not meant to be pick and choose guidelines to align with partisan bullet points. They were meant to protect us from exactly the kind of outrageous government overreaches we’ve seen from this White House that are so extreme they even deny us the right to hold political beliefs that question Democrat Party orthodoxy.
Instead of free speech, conservatives are actively censored and censured and accused by our president of being “semi-fascists.” Speaking our mind at school board meetings made us a national threat inviting scrutiny from our nation’s security agencies. Our right to bear arms in cities where Democrats hamstring the police is under attack by left-wing public officials who conveniently deny the reality of the violence they allow to flourish while they blame America for systemic racism and social injustice. Even questioning the science behind the government’s suspect information on COVID-19 meant social media cancellation during the worst of the pandemic.
Last, but not least, there is the issue of what happened between our government and Twitter. We still don’t have the whole story and likely never will, but as Senator Chuck Grassley recently confirmed309 at the very least the FBI and Biden campaign colluded with this social media behemoth to interfere in the 2020 election and suppress information about the president’s son’s notorious laptop.
Few of us familiar with the platform were surprised that conservative accounts were actively censored, suppressed, and banned. My Civil Candor Twitter account has been suspended twice for reasons unknown and remains inaccessible, which at this point is fine with me.
For the Biden administration to even hint that the Bill of Rights still contains ten amendments is an outrageous lie made even more false by this claim on Bill of Rights Day:
They [Bill of Rights] are the rock on which our Nation is built and the reasons why America has long been a beacon to the world. Our democracy will be preserved not just in courts of law but also in people’s habits of heart. It lives in our national character, courage, and optimism and in the fundamental empathy that underlies our system of government — a willingness to see each other not as enemies but as fellow citizens with equal rights. Today, we recommit to defending and extending that promise to everyone.310
That came from the same man who made Republicans enemies of the state. Our equity-obsessed president presides over a nationwide scourge of identity-politics based discrimination but still wants us to believe that Democrats value equality. In fact, equality is a freedom diametrically opposed to the woke discriminatory, skin-color based equity policies pushed by Democrats nationwide.
I could go on about denying Fourth Amendment protections to Donald Trump and potentially his former administration officials, but what’s the point? Constitutional protections are only as good as the government that supports them. As far as freedom and liberty for every American is concerned the Biden administration and Democrat Party are rotten to the core. They will discard any protection that they think might infringe on absolute power.
At least criminals can celebrate the Eighth Amendment.
At least we can close with some good news. The Eighth Amendment is not only alive and well, excessive bail has been replaced with no bail in many cities. Criminals, at least, can rejoice. They are able to enjoy a Constitutional protection while our rights are taken away. That’s a victory for the Constitution that Biden and every Democrat can celebrate, but they aren’t saying much about it. I wonder why?
UPDATE January 17, 2023:
Democrats are Disgusting, Part I: how can we create more white supremacy and use it to take Americans’ freedom away?
The problem with repeatedly denouncing America for endemic racism and white supremacy is that no matter how much political mileage you think you will gain by despising our country, there has to be substantial truth to your allegations. If you keep ringing the fire bell and there is no fire, people stop listening.
Democrats don’t understand this. They are only inspired to work harder to create their illusion of a racist, hateful nation. To that end they have worked overtime since the beginning of Donald Trump’s presidency to turn America into a country infested with seething, foaming at the mouth, racist white supremacists. Now that they have lost the House and their iron-fisted grip on power in Washington is gone, everything Republicans believe, say, or do will be fraught with racism and white supremacy if not outright Nazism.
Expect Democrat attacks to be vile and disgusting and most important, baseless. We know what they are capable of. Getting away with lies, historic hoaxes like Trump-Russia collusion, and last year’s partisan January 6th Kangaroo Court empowers them to keep on doing what they do best.
If you don’t have enough white supremacists to make your case, you always have the option of creating them. That’s what Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee must be counting on with H.R. 61, the “Leading Against White Supremacy Act of 2023.” Lee’s bill, which has not attracted a single cosponsor, makes it easier to accuse Americans of white supremacy and hate crimes. If you publish something that is allegedly white supremacist in nature – said nature presumably being in the eyes of our politicized Department of Justice and any Democrat, media elite, or activist who points a finger – and they show that the material:
could, as determined by a reasonable person, motivate actions by a person predisposed to engaging in a white supremacy inspired hate crime or by a person who is susceptible to being encouraged to engage in actions relating to a white supremacy inspired hate crime;311
… then you are a criminal.
There is more, but you get the idea. This could apply to almost any material that offends Democrat Party orthodoxy on issues like illegal immigration or racial equity policies. The bill is short. Terms are not defined. That is not a good thing.
Lee’s legislation also sneaks a blanket statement and threat into the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act. Her amendment to the bill states:
Mass shootings and other hate crimes motivated by white supremacy have been increasing in frequency and intensity. These heinous and virulent crimes are inspired by conspiracy theories, blatant bigotry, and mythical falsehoods such as “replacement theory”. All instances must be prevented and severe criminal penalties must be applied to their perpetrators. 312
There is no definition offered for “perpetrators” or white supremacy, for that matter. Does this language refer to a mass shooter or someone who allegedly inspires a mass shooting? Rest assured all terms will be very broadly construed in the unfortunate circumstance that this outrageous assault on our freedom to voice our thoughts ever makes it into law.
For now, let’s take this at face value as an offensive and disgusting effort to create more racists and white supremacists in service to the Democrat Party’s agenda to restrict our rights and freedom under threat of being hauled away for saying the wrong thing.

People do not understand how the Democrats and the Obama administration are slowly strangling the very freedoms that the Revolution was fought for. The facts are clear when you see the Constitution being trampled on by Obama, and then realize that he could not pass a gun owner background check, which is why he has sealed “ALL” of his records.
If congress were to pass any new legislation on background checking it must include the requirement that “ALL” politicians running for public office must “PASS” those requirements or be disqualified.
As it stands right now, Obama could not ” PASS” a standard FBI check from the details that were written in his book, which is why his certification was challenged. The judges that had cases before them refused to hear the arguments and thusly dismissed those cases. What gutless wonders we have in the justice system including the Supreme Court.

Obama is tearing our nation apart. and he is banking on the ignorant that don’t pay attention. obama has a shady past and i am not convinced that he is a true citizen of the united states. If you vote democrat you are voting to end america as a freedom country. Obama is taking it all away and people are not paying attention. when it’s gone and you are under the control of a dictator you will wish you had paid attention. but this country has been under attack before obama but now it’s speeded up so much it will be a miracle if we can keep it
Bob says
We’ll find out next week how well people are paying attention, won’t we, Sandy? I agree, it’s pretty amazing that no matter how bad things are or how misguided the actions of public officials, they still manage to convince people to support what they do. Watch what happens in the Illinois governor’s race next week. If Pat Quinn wins, it’s a pretty good sign that we are truly lost.
Ed M says
freedom from harm is not a reasonable freedom. Freedom from unjust aggression is reasonable, and the primary reason for government.
Bob Prokop says
Thanks for your remarks, Ed. Interesting how some of what’s happening now at the hands of government could be considered unjust aggression, like the searches they conducted in Rhode Island looking for New Yorkers. It’s difficult to know where to draw the line between government overreach and the public interest, but that was quite a line to cross.
