Big Government

It doesn’t matter whether a Democrat or Republican is in the White House. Big government keeps getting bigger. Democrats grow government for their special reasons. Republicans grow it for theirs. The result is a bureaucratic monstrosity that costs too much and can’t be controlled.

Obama: big government divides and conquers

The largest big government intervention in years was the passage of the Affordable Care Act. The bill raised questions on everything from individual liberty to separation of church and state.

Under Obama we saw the dark side of big government with scandals like the IRS targeting of conservatives, collection of Associated Press phone records by the Department of Justice, and domestic spying by the NSA.

Divisive questions were raised about the reach of big government that ranged from the abuse of presidential power to the people’s dependence on a welfare state to whether Congress or the president decides who crosses our borders. These questions were never answered.

Now they are Donald Trump’s problem.

Trump: big government for conservative purposes

President Trump has his own ideas about big government from the other side of the ideological fence, but his agenda is endlessly complicated by a GOP that can’t agree to get along.

The failure of conservative big government health care made it appallingly obvious that Republicans are not nearly as adept at running our lives as their Democratic opponents. Now we’re on to tax reform. America will discover where conservatives draw the line between what we keep and what we are forced to hand over to Uncle Sam.

Biden: big government out of control

The 2020 election was the election we could not lose. Too much was at stake. We knew what a Biden presidency would mean for the country.

Trump lost. Now our big government is out of control. Congressional Democrats seek to dominate every aspect of our lives including a new assault on our incomes to fund their activist agenda. If Americans want to know just how damaging big government can be in the hands of progressive ideologues, this is our chance to find out.

Biden talked unity before he took over the White House. He maintains this fiction while the hypocrisy of his policies divides the nation to an extreme we haven't seen since the Civil War.

Civil unrest calls for more control and control calls for more big government. It's a dangerous revolving door that spins faster and faster and while our freedoms vanish and totalitarian rule replaces the promise of liberal solicitude.

What is the Big Government category about?

Big government category topics include privacy, accountability, law enforcement, and authoritarianism. One thing is certain. As long as the people can be convinced that we have something to gain from big government, Washington will keep growing with the excuse that it's all for the people.

Benefits Cheaters Get Government Assistance

June 19, 2015 by Bob Prokop Leave a Comment

There is enough theft of government assistance going on that benefits cheaters don’t need much help, but a new government report shows that some thieves aren’t cheating at all. Instead, they have fallen victim to our overgenerous government not doing its job. When Washington sends you money you didn’t ask for, what do you do? Social Security Disability: the money just … [Read more...] about Benefits Cheaters Get Government Assistance

Affordable College: Higher Education Made Dumber

March 12, 2015 by Bob Prokop Leave a Comment

Someone wiser than me confided that the secret to college is understanding that you are persevering against nothing. The only thing you are fighting is yourself as you acquire lots of debt to attend classes you will never use and study long, lonely hours while living like a pauper. If you stick with it, you get a piece of paper with very tangible rewards. You will have … [Read more...] about Affordable College: Higher Education Made Dumber

Legacy of the Left Destroyed by Empathy Problem

The empty spot in Paris that should have been occupied by America’s leader shouted the truth of how Barack Obama regards the Muslim faith. Did he think that his administration’s transparent efforts to shield its favorite religion from the “terrorism” label would go unnoticed? Imposing your beliefs is tyranny, not empathy There is nothing special about our rabble-rousing … [Read more...] about Legacy of the Left Destroyed by Empathy Problem

Poor Students Learn Lesson About Being Needy

January 11, 2015 by Bob Prokop Leave a Comment

Had we taken it seriously we would have been stunned by the new White House proposal that taxpayers shell out $60 billion to pay for the first two years of college. This sort of meaningless gibberish is standard political fare before the State of the Union, so the shock over suggesting a massive new federal giveaway was blunted by knowing it is never going to happen. That … [Read more...] about Poor Students Learn Lesson About Being Needy

Washington Deserves Thanks for 6 Terrible Things

November 26, 2014 by Bob Prokop 2 Comments

The holiday season means being beaten over the head with reminders to offer up thanks for how good we’ve got it. That gets old before the Thanksgiving leftovers spoil, but it doesn’t mean there aren’t some things we should be grateful for. For example, Washington deserves our thanks for all the things the government does in exchange for the piles of money and boundless trust we … [Read more...] about Washington Deserves Thanks for 6 Terrible Things
