I am not a James Comer (R-KY) fan. The House Oversight Committee chair was a frequent guest on conservative media shows like Hannity1 while he investigated allegations of Joe Biden’s foreign influence dealing. Night after night while driving home I heard about a trail of currency transactions and the threat of a compromised White House that demanded accountability.
The evidence was shocking. Comer’s Biden Influence Peddling Timeline2 stretched back to 2009 and included China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, and Romania.
The promises of accountability kept coming after Republicans took over the House. What we didn’t hear was the plan for justice:
If President Biden is compromised by deals with foreign adversaries and they are impacting his decision making, this is a threat to national security. The American people deserve transparency and accountability about the Biden family’s influence peddling. With the new Republican majority, Oversight Committee Republicans will continue pressing for answers to inform legislative solutions to prevent this abuse of power.3
“Pressing for answers to inform legislative solutions” is jargon, not accountability and certainly not justice.
We waited. We hoped for justice. Instead, Comer declared victory:
The American people have seen through the Bidens’ lies and the legacy media’s coverup, and they know the truth: President Biden abused his public office to create a slush fund for his family. President Biden will go down as the most corrupt president in U.S. history, and our investigation will be remembered as one of the most successful ever conducted by Congress. Indeed, Joe Biden’s final act in office—pardoning his family—confirms it.4
After years of investigating and some would argue incontrovertible evidence of influence peddling there was no accountability or justice to be had. This was partisan politics as usual before the Oversight Committee moved on to investigating the next scandal, the Biden incapacity cover-up.

Comer is correct. His investigation was amazingly successful for Joe and Hunter Biden, who managed to escape accountability after months of hyperbolic tongue-wagging from the congressman.
Joe has since left the building. Hunter received the pardon his dad vowed would never happen. Media talking heads and pretend journalists are reinventing how they manipulated the left’s hatred of Donald Trump to protect a dangerously impaired commander in chief.
This is how accountability works in Washington.
Another rabbit hole: more accountability is coming, just don’t expect justice
Accountability with no justice is not accountability. It’s a bipartisan government scam that hands Americans held to an entirely different set of laws and values the illusion of accountability in lieu of the real thing.
Comer’s Oversight Committee is hot on the trail of the Biden incapacity cover-up and whether the flurry of pardons issued at the end of his term are legitimate or the “potentially unauthorized” work of the autopen.5
“Potentially unauthorized” is more jargon. Either the autopen was authorized, or it was not.
Regardless, this is another scandal that will generate politically divisive hearings, investigations, and calls for accountability that will never come and will eventually fade away in favor of new allegations about other things.
Jill, Kamala, unnamed and unseen presidential handlers, the Biden “politburo,” congressional and media enablers who told us we didn’t hear or see what we plainly heard and saw, and anyone else involved in covering up the truth about America’s failing president will get off scot-free. That is not going to change no matter how much time and money is thrown at this new “historic scandal:”6
Any continued obstruction will be met with swift and decisive action. The American people demand transparency and accountability now,” said Chairman Comer.7
Imagine dragging ex-First Lady “Doctor” Jill Biden in front of Congress for a grilling. Try to get a straight, intelligible answer from Harris about the time of day, much less Biden’s physical and cognitive decline.
The time to do something ended on January 20, 2025. We can demand all we want, but this new oversight opportunity will only provide more proof that accountability is a scam.
Accountability is not justice
While illegals streamed into the country, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas insisted the border was secure. Americans were robbed, murdered, and raped. He was impeached by the House. It took Trump to shut down the border. If he had lost the 2024 election, nothing would have changed. Mayorkas would still be in office.
This is how accountability without justice works in Washington.
Trump revokes security clearances, but no justice is coming for the damage done
On January 20, 2025 President Trump revoked the security clearances of the 51 intelligence officials who signed the Hunter Biden laptop “Russian disinformation” letter.8
In March 2025 he added “specified individuals” including Joe Biden and his family, Kamala Harris, Adam Kinzinger, Hillary Clinton, Liz Cheney, and others.9
A February 2025 release announcing the suspension of security clearance for employees of a firm that worked with Special Counsel Jack Smith promised “a return to accountability” and “prioritizing citizens over partisan games.”10
While I applaud Trump’s determination to root out the liars, partisans, and political hucksters who place self-interested partisanship over the needs and will of Americans, this kind of accountability is bereft of justice. It doesn’t repair the damage done by the Trump-Russia hoax or change the impact of the Hunter Biden laptop cover-up or reverse the astounding damage done to our country by persons unknown while Joe Biden vegetated in the Oval Office. Those horses left the barn long ago.
Yes, Americans deserve accountable government. No, we are not going to get it.
Musk proved your government hates accountability
Elon Musk proved how much Washington hates the idea of accountability and how little respect agencies have for hard-earned taxpayer money that is lost, defrauded, scammed, wasted, and spent on priorities we don’t agree with.
The terror attacks on Tesla dealerships and car owners were even more proof that the left hates and fears the idea of accountability. While perpetrators who are arrested will face consequences, the Democrats in Congress spurring them on will not be held accountable for their incitement.
Rep. Robert Garcia’s (D-CA) call to action to “bring actual weapons to this bar fight” against Elon Musk earned him a censure resolution introduced by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC). H.Res. 132 to censure the congressman for his threat went nowhere.
Would it make a difference?
Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) was censured one month after Hamas’ October 7, 2023 genocide in Israel for her flagrantly antisemitic remarks. As anti-Jewish hate continues to simmer in our intolerant, post-Biden country, the congresswoman continues her harangues undeterred, asking “Why Does U.S. Have Money for “War and Genocide” But Not for Healthcare?”11
While many lawmakers agreed with Tlaib’s censure, Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN) had a different take on what a House censure should punish:
Censure is a serious tool that should be reserved for holding Members of Congress accountable for unethical or criminal behavior, like committing assault or accepting bribes, or for specific categories of speech that are not protected by the First Amendment, including direct threats against individuals, inciting treason or insurrection, or the use of aggressively insulting “fighting words” against another Member on the House Floor.12
Serious tool for whom? Did she mean threats like Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) “you will pay the price” incitement against SCOTUS Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanagh that preceded an assassin stalking Kavanaugh, Garcia’s threatening words against Musk, or the treasonous promotion of illegal immigration that welcomed criminals and terror suspects to our country?
Democrats impeached Trump twice, once for a phone call and again for telling election protesters to voice their concerns peacefully. Americans are dead because of their party’s immigration policies and arguably for lawmakers’ scantily veiled promotion of antisemitism.
There is no accountability in the House and especially not for Democrats who stick together no matter what, but since lawmakers have turned the concept into a bad joke at America’s expense it makes little difference. Those who voted to censure Tlaib knew full well that it was a meaningless gesture that deters nothing.
Genocide and ethnic cleansing? Only our vote can bring accountability for the radical left’s incitement
Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) portrays Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide, but Hamas’ genocidal terror attack on our ally is portrayed as murder despite radical Islam’s determination to destroy the Jewish state. Why?
Murder and genocide have very different connotations. Pressley contrasts “1,200 Israelis murdered by Hamas” with “tens of thousands of civilians killed in the genocide in Gaza…”
Since the horrific October 7th attack, families from the Middle East to the Massachusetts 7th have been grieving—for the 1,200 Israelis murdered by Hamas, for the tens of thousands of civilians killed in the genocide in Gaza unleashed by the Israeli military and aided by U.S. dollars, for the hostages yet to be reunited with their loved ones and those who have died in captivity, and for the death and destruction Palestinians have been subjected to for over a year.13
In a March 25, 2025 statement the congresswoman blamed the president for ethnic cleansing, another incredibly loaded term:
Let’s be clear: Donald Trump’s dangerous rhetoric has only fueled this violence. He has openly advocated for the ethnic cleansing and permanent displacement of Palestinians and talked about turning Gaza into a US-controlled real estate project. This is not diplomacy; this is a genocide.14
While this is protected speech, some would call it inciting and last Sunday an illegal immigrant launched a lethal terror attack against a group calling for the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
No one will be held accountable or receive justice for his presence in the U.S. The anti-Israel political harangues about genocide from Democrats who hold themselves blameless for inciting political violence, domestic terror, and lawbreaking will continue. Harsh words from Republicans will be the only consequences they face, just as the deaths of Americans at the hands of criminal illegals only lead to more calls and judicial intervention to protect those who enter our country in violation of the law.
This is how accountability works in Washington. Only our vote will deliver justice.
