Not that long ago Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) was a relatively reasonable, rational Democratic voice. That’s reasonable and rational in the context of his party, of course. As Democrats slid off the rails Americans rejected the radical insanity that infected their once legitimate party and now manifests as support for dangerous criminal foreign nationals, antisemitic activists, “peaceful” domestic terrorists, and other trendy liberal poster children.
With his post-Pelosi House speakership lost to Mike Johnson (R-LA), Jeffries’ statements are now shockingly unhinged and no longer bear any fealty to truth or reality. That’s probably why he fled to the shelter of favorite left-wing media sycophant MSNBC on Sunday to promote the left’s anti-ICE protests:
Well, yes. Well, you know, it was very inspirational to see that across 50 states, you had peaceful demonstrators coming out in community, after community, after community to make a few things clear—primarily that we need to defend our democracy, uplift and cherish the Constitution and create a better America moving forward that’s less divided and more unified.1
I don’t see anything inspirational in burning cars or injuring federal officers or protecting illegal immigrant criminals or parading Mexican flags in lieu of our own, but I’m not a Democrat.
Knowing any hypocrisy is safe and secure with the left’s pseudo-state media, Jeffries continued his nonsensical rant. He blasted what he calls a “GOP Tax Scam”2 for billionaire donors:
That’s unacceptable. It’s an attack on the American way of life, an attack on the rule of law, an attack on democracy itself.3
He didn’t mention that our way of life, the rule of law, and democracy were willfully subverted by Biden, Harris, and the Democrat Party’s congressional leadership.
Instead, Jeffries and his cohorts assume their vanishing base will believe whatever nonsense they are fed including their absurdly fallacious appeals to “democracy.” They justified states trying to ban Trump from primary ballots and efforts by their weaponized judiciary to strip him of his assets and win the election for Democrats by throwing him in prison, but how do they explain rejecting their primary voters’ choice by swapping in babbling, sure loser Kamala Harris to run for president?
They can’t, so they don’t.
Congress has a fundamental obligation to protect Americans, but Democrat lawmakers come first

Facts, truth, and reality interfere with Democrat messaging that protects their own at any cost. Instead of looking to Governor Tim Walz to protect Minnesota state legislators after last weekend’s abhorrent attacks, Jeffries used the incidents to demand that Speaker Johnson provide more security for federal lawmakers:
We write in the wake of this weekend’s lethal and catastrophic political violence in Minnesota to urge you to fulfill one of your most fundamental obligations as Speaker of the House: ensuring Members of Congress can safely carry out their constitutional duties.4
He issued what sounds like an ultimatum:
That responsibility starts with you.5
That responsibility also rested with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) who failed to secure the capitol before the planned January 6, 2021 protests. It rested with a Biden Secret Service that failed to prevent Trump from being shot by a would-be assassin and barely prevented another attempt while Democrats called him Hitler and warned America was teetering on the brink of MAGA fascism.
Joe Biden also had the responsibility to protect Supreme Court justices after the Dobbs leak and protests at the justices’ homes backed by Senator Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) threat that Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh would “pay the price” for not doing his party’s bidding. Instead of more security, like Trump Kavanaugh got an assassination attempt.
Jeffries’ press release is clever. It’s also disgusting. A governor who constantly embarassed himself during the 2024 campaign, who failed to protect Minneapolis during the Floyd riots, and whose wife famously boasted about opening their windows to better smell the burning tires while the city succumbed to violent anarchy can’t be trusted to protect anyone or anything, but this isn’t about Walz’s real or perceived dereliction. This is about manipulating this shocking political violence to benefit congressional Democrats.
While Jeffries & Co. become bleary-eyed strategizing how best to politicize these violent tragedies, we’re still waiting to hear why they willfully put Americans in harm’s way or what their plans are to protect us from the criminal illegal murderers, rapists, child molesters, terror suspects, and other foreign trash they welcomed to America with open arms. Considering most probably won’t admit to knowing who Laken Riley or Jocelyn Nungaray were and will soon claim deer in the headlights naivete over the identity of the Boulder killer and will have no knowledge that Americans continue to suffer at the hands of their illegal immigrant guests, my guess is it’s going to be a long wait. Protecting their own hides at any cost comes first.
