There is a quote attributed to Oscar Wilde that patriotism is the virtue of the vicious. Historically there are times when this was true, but the viciousness we’re seeing in the U.S. is not coming from patriots. It’s coming from Democrats who fear them.
We live in a nation founded by patriotism. This virtue is no longer in favor. In fact, our liberal rulers will quash patriotism like a disease wherever it appears because it undermines our subservience to the false values that keep them entrenched.
This threatens the survival of America as we know it. Without patriotism all that remains are wealthy autocrats and the compliant masses they dominate.

Patriotism is a virtue to respect and fear*
No patriotism in Biden, only partisanship
After seven months of President Biden’s take on national unity America is divided worse than ever. Thank an agenda designed to permanently fracture our one nation, indivisible. His administration continues to encourage an ideological civil war that risks triggering the real thing.
It’s standard Biden White House propaganda that Americans are the terrorists to fear. To that end the goal of the June 2021 National Strategy to Counter Domestic Terrorism was clear from the start: attack the right, spare the left, and secure the future for the Democratic Party.
Pelosi: saviors and minutemen?
Nancy Pelosi tries to sound like a patriot:
This is outrageous. This – we are the minutemen. We are the – we are the saviors of our democracy. And you all are courageously on the forefront of all of that.1
That bit of hubris was in favor of passing legislation to not protect the right to vote. In one breath Pelosi is the savior of our democracy and Democrats are militia members, which is perplexing considering their stance on the Second Amendment.
In the next breath the speaker puts on her true face and endorses Marxism:
The ‘haves’ increase their wealth at the expense of workers who produce the productivity that expands that wealth, and they crush the vote, and get it all their own way in taxes and all the rest of that.2
Did AOC write that? Marxism and America are mutually exclusive. Any patriot knows that, but Pelosi is not a patriot. She is a Democrat and a very well off Democrat despite her socialist pandering.
Biden administration is the front for the left’s war on patriotism
Let’s call the Biden administration what it is: an attack on American patriotism from the radical left:
One of the core values and beliefs that should bring us together as Americans is standing against hate and racism, even as we acknowledge that systemic racism and white supremacy are ugly poisons that have long plagued the United States. We must change the laws that enable discrimination in our country, and we must change our hearts.3
No patriot would bring us together by condemning our history, insisting that white supremacy is thriving in America, and insinuating that our hearts are fundamentally racist. Biden would do it, though. He stumbles through the same message every chance he gets. Does he expect a confession from Americans who didn’t vote for him so we can all join hands again?
No patriot would use skin color to divide America
A patriot would not use skin color to divide America because the American identity, not the color of our skin is what counts.
If you are not a patriot then the American identity doesn’t matter. That’s one of the reasons divisive racial identity politics is a Biden Administration mainstay. These inflammatory remarks are from the president’s commemoration of the 1921 Tulsa race massacre:
Millions of white Americans belonged to the Klan, and they weren’t even embarrassed by it; they were proud of it.4
Biden and the Democrats are still reliving Charlottesville as their example of our extremism problem:
Just close your eyes and remember what you saw in Charlottesville four years ago on television. Neo-Nazis, white supremacists, the KKK coming out of those fields at night in Virginia with lighted torches — the veins bulging on their — as they were screaming. Remember? Just close your eyes and picture what it was.5
They ignore the race riots they helped inspire last summer that could just as easily be called a Marxist revolution.
Biden is so blinded by the left’s desire to turn American against American that he ignores the racism behind his argument that black business owners don’t have the wherewithal to hire accountants and lawyers like white people do:
That — the data shows young Black entrepreneurs are just as capable of succeeding, given the chance, as white entrepreneurs are. But they don’t have lawyers. They don’t have — they — they don’t have accountants, but they have great ideas.6
Where does all this anti-whiteness lead? To the very unpatriotic conclusion that Americans are a threat even worse than Middle East terrorist groups. Biden is ready to deal with that threat now:
My administration will soon lay out our broader strategy to counter domestic terrorism and the violence driven by the most heinous hate crimes and other forms of vigorty [sic] — of bigotry.7
The president has great difficulty making sense, but he has never been anything but clear about who he regards as a threat (hint: it’s not China). Democrats neither need nor want patriots. They need Americans willing to agree that anyone who doesn’t back their narrative should be feared, condemned, investigated, and silenced. Their goal is subservience to the party and the state, not loyalty to America.
Democrats attack the most patriotic Americans
We can also thank White House officials for the troubling shift in our armed forces from patriotic duty to woke extremism. Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) makes the point:
The United States military cannot afford to have politicized military leaders push their deranged wokeness on our fighting force. Our military is steeped in tradition and tenacity that has made us revered around the world. Its sole purpose is to defend our great nation and extinguish enemy threats.8
The numbers don’t support the assertion that our military is infested with white supremacists or any other extremists:
Since the start of FY20, nine soldiers have been separated from the Army for misconduct where extremism was a factor. Nine out of nearly one million. 9
Senator Tom Cotton reminded us what’s important when he pushed back against the military’s promotion of critical race theory and “ideological poison:”
Likewise, we need to teach them to revere the Constitution that they swore to protect and defend — not to believe it’s part of a multigenerational racist conspiracy.10
During a House hearing on extremism before the House Armed Service Committee Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL) pointed out that contrary to the rush to purge extremists from the military:
Earlier this year, 151 overwhelmingly liberal organizations, including Human Rights Watch, the ACLU, and SPLC Action, urged Congress not to expand domestic terrorism charges. I ask unanimous consent to insert that letter in the record.
The organizations said, “We urge you to oppose any new domestic terrorism charge, the creation of a list of designated domestic terrorist organizations, or other expansion of existing terrorism-related authorities.”11
Nevertheless, the congressional left pushes their narrative:
Rep. Pete Aguilar introduced the Shielding Our Military from Extremists Act, legislation to help prevent white supremacists and other domestic extremists from enlisting in the US Military.12
Aguilar’s legislation includes interpreting “tattoo meaning and significance” and coming up with a “consistent definition of Domestic Extremist (DE) ideologies.”13
The bad news for our national defense is that these ideologies will be whatever Democrats say they are. Like the January 6th investigation they have already reached their conclusion. Now they just need to create the facts:
Nearly 1 in 5 people charged over their alleged involvement in the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol appear to have a military history.14
Are we supposed to be flabbergasted that conservative Americans are more likely to be patriotic and have a military background than the BLM rioters Democrats protect at any cost?
Patriotism is not any of these things
Instead of defending what patriotism is, it’s easier to define what it is not.
Patriotism does not mean denying Americans the sovereignty of their nation with open, unprotected borders.
Patriotism does not mean degrading the value of American citizenship by allowing a historic surge of foreign nationals into the country in hopes of granting them the vote in time for the next election so they can impact the balance of power in Washington.
Patriotism does not mean refusing to defend our nation or retaliate against adversaries like China who harm our people, businesses, and economy.
Patriots don’t tell the world that America is an unfair, unequal, inequitable country and that our people, who spend fantastic sums each and every year on programs focused on equality, are fundamentally racist.
Patriotism does not mean trading identity politics for the American identity.
Patriotism does not endorse a president, Cabinet, and agency heads who base their policies on lies and disinformation.
Patriotism does not encourage Americans to hate other Americans based on their party affiliation.
Patriotism does not mean undermining our military strength with far left idealism.
Patriotism does not mean exposing citizens to a virulent, lethal virus because illegal immigrants are more valuable to the Biden White House and Democrat Party than the Americans who make our country great.
The Biden Administration and Democrat Party are doing all of these things. These people are not patriots. They are agitators and instigators who fear patriotism and know very well that it is the biggest threat they face.
Olympics reflects the death of American patriotism
What better place to show the world that America is dying than the Olympics? It’s an unspoken truth that the event is all about nationalism and the patriotism behind it:
The Olympics should be about patriotism and the love of one’s country. And it should be a time when partisan politics is put aside. If you do not love America, I cannot begin to imagine why you would want to represent America on the world stage,” said Representative Robert Aderholt (AL-04).15
If you don’t love America I can’t imagine why you would want to be president or serve in Congress, either. Perhaps in time the athletes who shamed us will look back and see why they were so wrong. That will never happen with Democrat Party leaders who threaten and shame Americans for being patriots instead of submissive socialist sheep who exist to pay taxes and be grateful for whatever we are offered from our gods in Washington.
The president promises:
Hate can have no safe harbor in America.16
That’s another Biden falsehood. Hate does have a safe harbor in America. Any patriot knows where it’s coming from and who is responsible.
