Do you get tired of hearing what a great country we have when the words are coming from someone intent on undermining everything America stands for? Our current crop of liberal traitors does not understand nationalism. Patriots do.
Original or not, JFK’s remark in his inaugural address about asking what you can do for your country would be lost on a good portion of Washington. Our elected liberal traitors are asking what their country can do to benefit their future prospects and what it can stop doing that they no longer want to take responsibility for.
Nationalism battles liberal anti-Americanism.
A news story making the rounds about the dangers of crossing the U.S. border is a perfect example of the difference between nationalism and the damaging, anti-American agenda that comprises current liberal thinking. The body of a boy from Guatemala was found in the Texas desert. He was allegedly on his way to sanctuary city Chicago so he could work to send money home. No surprise. Our government has assured illegal immigrants they are entitled to minimum wage protections and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel actively promotes his city as a “Welcome City” for all immigrants, papers or not. Nevertheless, liberal politics will blame our immigration system for those attempting the dangerous trek and will demand that we live up to our values by using taxpayer money to pay for the consequences. California Congressman Tony Cardenas went so far as to claim that the children crossing the border were refugees, “not immigrants seeking to come to America.”1
This is who we are as a nation. The children at our southern border deserve our protection, they deserve due process, and if sending them home would put them in danger, they deserve sanctuary.”2
Whether refugees or immigrants, the result is the same. Taxpayers pay so the Democratic Party can benefit.
Patriots know better. Nationalism argues against those seeking to score political points by ignoring the sanctity of our borders while giving away what our citizens work for. If you believe these kids are refugees who should be let in and taken care of no matter what, then there is no point to spending another cent on the border. Everyone will have an excuse to come to America. Our liberal traitors in Congress will accept all but the most criminal immigrants.
Does nationalism mean respecting opportunity, equality, and race?
Diversity is a good thing. So is equal opportunity. What is not good is manipulating these American values so they mean something else.
Nationalism hands you rights and opportunity because you are American and asks that you accept the responsibility to do something with them. There are no guarantees.
Urged on by their president, liberals have taken the idea a step further. They want the government to decide what your aspirations should be. Then they fault others for not funding those aspirations using race, economic status, or other differences to highlight America’s unfairness to her people.
In a recent Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee speech, the president demonized manufacturers and the financial industry:
But right now, at this moment in our history, the reason we’re not making progress is because you’ve got a party on the other side that has become so ideologically rigid, so invested in an economic theory that says if folks at the top do well and there are no regulations on banks or insurance companies or credit card companies or polluters, that somehow everybody does well.3
Liberal traitors understand how this works. Prosperity doesn’t create wealth. Wealth falls from the skies and barring that, can be taken by force.
Patriots know that in America nationalism and free enterprise have always been inseparable. One of the things that made our economy strong was the belief that nationalism means a strong global presence. That belief has served us so well that words, not military force, usually got the job done when we had a conflict with another country. Why did we throw that global leadership role away?
Nationalism made America a world leader.
Being weak on the home front means weakness on the world stage (see: America Shamed as Obama’s Global Leadership Crisis Grows). Is it any surprise that almost every hot zone in the world is acting up as our president’s incompetence as a leader becomes shockingly evident?
Refusing to deal with international crises and relying on the liberal “world community” fallback means trouble with North Korea, China flexing its muscle, and disasters throughout the Middle East. We backed down on our chemical weapons vow in Syria and let the world and ISIS know we were washing our hands of Iraq. Our relationship with Israel is up for grabs. We let Ukraine fall by the wayside despite stern warnings to Putin as scandals and the pre-midterm push for immigration reform took center stage.
The next time Obama’s community of nations needs guidance will it look to the U.S., or wait to see what Russia or even China tells us to do? America’s global leadership is no longer backed by nationalism and certainly not by patriots. Instead, we are assuming the role that liberal traitors envisioned when they decided that America was too much of a superpower and needed to have its wings clipped. Remember this apology made in Barack Obama’s June 2009 speech in Cairo, just after he affirmed that “Islam is a part of America.”?4
… I also believe that events in Iraq have reminded America of the need to use diplomacy and build international consensus to resolve our problems whenever possible.5
What has diplomacy, consensus, and this kind of thinking earned us? Deaths, embarrassment, and the loss of America’s global leadership, a hard thing to regain.
Bottom line: liberal traitors hate nationalism.
The security of our borders was never meant to be a bargaining chip. Free enterprise was not something to be fleeced because some Americans became richer than others. Financial powerhouses built on American prosperity were meant to flourish, not be vilified for the benefit of social classes unhappy with their lot.
Most important, since World War II the eyes of the world have been upon us. They still are, but are those eyes looking for leadership? How could they be? Our liberal traitors have told our allies and enemies everything they need to know and the news isn’t good.
