Chicago took down its Trump signs.1 The city no longer deemed him worthy of its respectful brown placards. Removing the signs in this destitute sanctuary city is probably more of an honor to a Republican than putting them up, but no one would argue that payback and disrespect are a sign of the times.
American Ideals and Values
Don’t Thank God. Pray to the Government.
Your government wants to do more than run your life. It wants you to have faith that it will do it better than you can. That means there is no reason to thank God for the things we need. All we have to do is pray to the government, which will give us what it thinks we should have whether we want it or not.
Liberal Left War on America Attacks the Best Thing About Us
I drove past a sign on a church yesterday that asked us to “Pray for our Nation.” Assuming this was a reference to the new president, my knee-jerk reaction was anger. It didn’t occur to me until later that the sign might not have had anything to do with the new liberal left war on America.
Our Differences or Unity: Which Is Worth More?
The hard sell is over. We bought into who we want, or at least who we think we want. The good news is that unity is the new buzzword and everyone wants to get along. The bad news is that this newfound togetherness doesn’t mean anything.
Social Media, Rumors, Fake News Control Our Politics
Social media is a filthy, stinking cesspool. If you spend any time on the big social media sites you will read shocking things, especially when the topic is controversial. Obscenities and insults are the rule. Worthwhile discussion has vanished. Rumors, fake news, and bald-faced lies abound.
Integrity Is For Losers, Political Office for Winners
America hates losers. Our reputation comes from winning. We give consolation prizes for second best. Cities even throw parades for losing sports teams, but deep down we know what these things are: celebrations of shame. Whether or not the good fight was fought with integrity, a loss makes you a loser.
Future of Conservatism? To Rule in Congressional Hell
What happened to the future of conservatism? Republicans killed it. Democrats were more than willing to assist. After years of blaming Barack Obama for everything from moral transgressions in his health care bill to handing a nuclear weapon to Iran, the right blew it again and we did it in the worst way imaginable.
